Waiving Right On Common App Rec Forms?

I emailed duke about it, but I haven’t received a response.

Does anyone know how I could waive my right on the common app forms? Can i just attach a sheet with the statement and my signature?

that's what i did...i actually had a post about this earlier (it might have been on the old forum)...you may want to run a search for it

yea, I'm also not sure about this, so should I give the teacher some paper saying that I waive my right to see it and ask him to put it in the same envelope with the rec?

It's really unnecessary, so say adcoms.

Wow.. if they're not requesting it, why are you doing backflips to try and give it to them? Do you honestly believe it would help your application?

Sheesh, talk about over-doing it...

Well I've just heard confidentiality is appreciated by the Universities at question, and I'm in no mood to read my recs, I trust my recommenders. If it's no big deal I won't put it down, but don't some consider it to be a big deal?

so wait. does it hurt you if you dont waive your right? or waive your right?

any difference?

Well, since there's nowhere on the app that has that, I guess it won't hurt you.

all apps at the very bottom have them. its federal law (i believe some law in 1977 mandates it).

The Common Application does not. Adcoms have said you don't need to bend over backwards to waive your right to read it. If there's not a spot, don't worry about it.
