waiving SHIP

when do we know if we successfully waived the SHIP insurance?

HOW do we do it? I've been trying to but it just kept taking me in circles for 10 minutes so I became frustrated and stopped.

UHS: SHIP - Student Health Plan Insurance

find "i want to waive ship enrollment"

Does your health insurance actually cover all of this junk?

Provides a maximum lifetime benefit of at least $400,000

Has an annual or policy year deductible of $500 or less

Covers 90% of hospitalization and at least 80% of professional fees and other medical care services

Covers a minimum of 15 days of inpatient mental health services (hospitalization)

Provides worldwide coverage

Is provided by a company that is owned, operated and headquartered in the United States

Is it actually reasonable to waive it or just pay for it?

waive it man. if you're unsure if you qualify to waive it, just check and say your current plan does cover it

Will they check or anything?

what do you mean? will they check to see if you are qualified for waiving? i'm sure they do... I still would like to know if they ever notify you if it was successfully waived or not...

Well if they do check and you don't qualify, then what's the point of waiving it?

yeah they let you know by email. You get one email telling you you have until July 15th to waive, two months before the deadline and I think one reminder. Just remember, you have to do this EACH semester.

Oh, wow I almost went to waive it when my folks got something from their insurance co. I'm on about me getting kicked off theirs unless they can show I'm enrolled full time.

I think if you opt out first semester, you are automatically opted out 2nd semester unless you tell them you want it.

I submitted my waiver a couple weeks back and when I went to check the confirmation page right now, it said: "According to our records, you have not submitted a waiver application for Fall/Spring 2006/2007." Shouldn't it be 08/09?
