Waiving the health insurance

Does anyone know the process for waiving the health insurance? I read on the website that waiver applications are not available until July. However I read somewhere else that once the insurance is billed to your account, it cannot be removed or waived.

When I paid the housing deposit there was a button to waive UShip but it took me to an unworking page, and once I paid the housing deposit it disappeared completely. I just want to make sure we are not charged for insurance we do not need. Thanks!

Dont worry, it all works out after you fill out the waiver application. Housing payments are completely separate from tuition and fees. Went through this all last year for the first time.

@DHMchicago - Thanks but do you remember filling out the waiver in July? It just seems late and I don’t understand why it’s not available now.

I also recall the process taking place in July

Hi! The waiver is fillled out near the end of summer. Once filled out you will see a credit on your Bruin Bill account.

Get your insurance paperwork ready @gratefulmama.
They want the “whole” enchilada. Every page is uploaded. For our policy, we had about 30 pages.

I’m attaching Davis’s page, so you can see what they ask.

Have your copies ready to go for UCLA.

@“aunt bea” and @10s4life - Thank you!

Hi, 3 years ago we didn’t have to send all that in.

We did have to send in proof of immunizations.

Go to the link “Waive UCSHIP” and get ready with the worksheet. The waiver process asks you these questions.

@gratefulmama @“aunt bea” There is a worksheet to follow. No need to upload too much.

@10s4life - Yes but the website says the waiver (worksheet) is not available until July, which seems strange.
I’m the kind of person that prefers to get this stuff handled right away, but based on all the helpful replies, I will just go with the flow and not worry.

Look under Important Links for the waiver information including a worksheet, http://www.studenthealth.ucla.edu/Lists/ChannelContent/CustDispForm.aspx?ID=109&Title=Waiving%20UCSHIP&Channel=Insurance

@Happy2Help - Thank you!

@gratefulmama It’s not avaible because the school is processing a lot of other info. School is in session until mid June so current students take up most of the man power
