S received an "invitation to apply" online using Wake Forest's application. Any benefit applying this way instead of the common app & WFU supplement? Demonstrated interest? S received a user name and password so Wake can track his response or lack thereof.

I would use the Common App if that is being done for other colleges. If your child does not have any other CA schools - then use the Wake app. Colleges that participate in CA stipulate that there will be no benefit/discrimination/preference based on whether the applicant uses the CA or the college’s own app - so do whatever is easier.

Rockvillemom: Thanks. It is easier to use the common app. All on S’s list prefer it (4 for now). - except the state school. I wondered if the app fee was waived if Wake “invited” D to apply…? If only I could get S to check it out! S will not focus on apps until he finishes senior thesis.

My son applied 3 years ago - he also got the email with the invitation to apply using Wake’s own app - but submitted the CA as he had already done it for his other schools. I do not recall a fee waiver being part of the email invitation to apply back then - although that certainly may have changed since then.

S received another similar invitation to apply. This one was from RPI - citing some advantage of personalized login and earlier decision and FA info.
