Since 2008… I just updated. Feel free to edit the post above.

Curious if those who have applied for Fall 2022 admission have requested an interview AND submitted a 1 minute video. I have participated in the interview but am not sure if it would improve my chance if I did both. Thanks!

I think the acceptance rate went up this year

Wondered if a parent or student could answer a question regarding test scores. I applied RD and sent common app in and did not notice my self reported SAT scores were not on the app. I was unsure if Wake does this bc of TO format? Anyway I sent them officially this Sun dec 26(1510 770m,740v) Is there an ability to self report? And should I be fine with sending them at this time?

You can send them in and they will add them to your file. We sent in grades last year for first semester when we received them. They should be back in the office on Jan 4th.

Thank you.

My son was excited and hopeful about Wake until he got deferred from Santa Clara so now he doesn’t think he has a chance to get into Wake. He didn’t get an interview, there weren’t any available. So now he doesn’t want to bother submitting a video. It’s definitely outside his comfort zone and his confidence is low. This process is so stressful, I don’t blame him. But I do wish he’d try.

Should I submit a video AND request an interview? Are the interviews recorded and shared with the admission staff to review? Thx.

Are his stats really high? He could’ve been yield protected from Santa Clara. I have good stats and all and got deferred from Fordham.

No, his stats are approx 50th percentile for Santa Clara but we thought he had a good shot bc his SAT is strong for SCU, he’s gone to Catholic schools all his life, he’s from a region that doesn’t send a lot of students there, and he’s a URM. His weaknesses are his gpa not a 4.0 weighted or UW. He takes a tough curriculum but has struggled in his math classes, so I think that may have hurt him. And tho he has good ECs, he doesn’t have any leadership. Mostly sports and community service.

It was going to be a toss-up but we definitely felt he had a stronger chance at SCU than WFU. But not enough to give up on Wake completely.

Does Wake ask for mid-year grades? I don’t see any specific information about that on the portal.
Are they sent directly through Common App or do I need to upload them in the portal? Hoping for some clarification since my report card will be sent tomorrow.

Check your portal and see if there is a drop down menu to “Upload Materials” You can upload a copy there if you like. We did last year but were ED. I don’t recall them asking but there is an option to submit.

I wanted to give a heads up- when they are sent( through common app or portal) they may not be seen on the portal list. All other material is green checks. Admissions said mid years were in but portal often doesn’t show it,just FYI GL

They don’t show with green checks in the main list if you submit. They show in a list of received documents under Upload Materials. At least that was the case last year.

I contacted my regional AO at Wake. He was very quick to respond and extremely helpful. As I understand from him, senior mid-year grades are not required. But as he put it “any accomplishments you are proud of you should consider sending”. I now know when I submit them I will not see a check-mark on the portal since this will be treated like any other supplemental material that is not required (I’ve submitted two other items already).

Thanks for the help!!
