Son will be applying for an Army ROTC scholarship and will be listing WFU as his #1 ROTC choice. We've heard from a couple sources that there's no harm in telling the school it's the ROTC favorite. However, there's no place on the WFU app to put "additional information."

The Common App has an "Additional Information" section. But, if he uses that space to indicate WFU is his #1 the ROTC choice, won't all his other Common App schools read it?

So, assuming he uses the WFU app and not the Common App, where should he report that Wake is #1 on his scholarship app?

Make sense?

I recommend using the common app. - that’s what my son did - it saved time. Be sure to also complete the Wake Forest supplement. As far as other schools seeing it - you can revise the common app. for each school. Look in the common app. instructions - there is a step called “replicate”. This allows you to open a copy of the common app. you sent to school A and make changes. Then, you can send the new version to School B, and so on. My son ended up with several versions of the common app., each one just slightly different and customized to that particular school.

DougBetsy,

If you have other circumstances, such as yours, I would just write a thoughtful note and address it to admissions. That is what I did when I wanted to further elaborate on my grades during high school, as I had perfect grades the last two years and mediocre grades the first two years.

Thanks to you both.

I didn’t realize you could modify the common app for each school. Cool.
