Wake Forest Deferred

Has anyone been deferred from Wake Forest Early Decision?
Has anyone been deferred and then accepted?
What are the chances of being accepted after being deferred?

Sounds like you have been deferred? Do not get discouraged! If you were still not under serious consideration they would have rejected you. Hang in there.

What was your GPA/test scores? When did you apply? I am waiting for my ED decision right now.

I was just deferred. 33 ACT and 3.75 GPA. I hear around 25% of deferred ED applicants are accepted, and 25% of ED applicants are deferred in the first place. Not sure how accurate this is.

Rubsie7 how did you learn that information about the 25% acceptance of deferred students? Either way hang in there until March!

Has anyone received there admission letter from Wake Forest University yet?

@rubsie7 I don’t know what percentage are accepted that were deferred from ED, but I have a family member with similar stats as you who was deferred last year. Unfortunately, she did not get accepted. However, she had very little community service experience and not a lot of extracurriculars. I don’t think there is a point in retaking and resubmitting ACT because your score is strong, but maybe make sure you’ve demonstrated interest…did you have an interview/tour the campus? Keep in touch with admissions and ask if anything else they need. I think you still have a shot! Good luck!

I have many extra curriculars and leadership roles, and I have interviewed as well as visited campus twice. I also contacted admissions again. However, I’m from a competitive area and Wake doesn’t take many kids from where I am as it is, so I’m worried about my shot. I saw on another thread on here that 25% of people deferred get in.

@rubsie7 You know, I truly believe trying to figure out what admission counselors are looking for is not only detrimental but exhausting. Only they know what the needs of the institution are in any given year. Your job, being the awesome student that I’m sure you are (and my young adult is) is to be the best version of you. If that fits Wake, then great! If not there are other wonderful institutions out there that will benefit from your gifts and talents. You’ve done your best effort at putting your application in. Let’s see how it goes from here. I hope you get a black envelope!

@FabulousWu, well said. Bravo. All applicants should read your post.

Thank you for your encouraging words! The advice was must needed! @FabulousWu

My app says incomplete because I only submitted SAT and not ACT scores, but what if I’m only sending SAT…why is it still “incomplete”???
