Wake Forest ED Applicants

A couple of questions to fellow ED applicants, and RD applicants as well:

  1. How long did it take for you to hear back from Wake Forest? On the threads, it seems like a 4-5 week window after everything from the school and application was submitted, but admissions emailed me saying 6-8.
  2. I was born at Wake Baptist Hospital and raised here for the last 17 years. Ask away if anyone has questions about the college or the town of Winston Salem. I’ve interned at Wake, took summer classes at Wake, and have been to a couple of parties at wake, so let me know if you got any special questions about this kind of stuff.

Hi, I am a parent of a student accepted ED. (1) It was four weeks to the day from the date of the email stating that my son’s application was under review. But perhaps the school is stating a longer period now that all high schools are in full swing and Wake is starting to get more ED applications? (2) the paperwork we received I believe said that a “new students website” would be available in May (I assume for communicating).

Is this the email you’re referring to?

“We’ve received your application to Wake Forest, and we’re glad you’ve submitted it Early Decision. Your doing so shows not only an admirable degree of time management and planning but also of your enthusiasm for and commitment to our university since, if you’re accepted, you’ve pledged to enroll here in the fall term.”

No, my son was in pretty regular communication with his regional counselor and after he had submitted his app, he updated with a few items. Once the high school submitted the final paperwork, the counselor’s assistance emailed and said essentially, we received everything from your high school, your application is now complete and under review.

My son used the Wake Forest application, not the Common App. It seems like I have read that people who used CA received that sort of email.

That’s weird. I used the wake forest application and I got the email.

Your son must be an exception, I guess. Am I missing out on something?

My wake portal shows that all my application requirements have a green check next to it, so does that mean my application is under review?

Yes, I think it does. I never saw anything else on his portal. Maybe he was too early in the process and that hadn’t set up the automatic response yet?

My D application has everything with green checks except the ED agreement? She signed on her common app electronically to be going ED so does it just not show up? Will they not review until that’s in?

The ED agreement on my screen just has a little document icon next to it and it does have a date. No green check on that.

Hi! My daughter submitted the Wake Forest application on August 15th and received her acceptance letter September 4th! Her letter was dated August 28th.

Yes, I have heard and read anytime between 2-8 weeks.

Wow, that is amazing! So, I live in Winston and applied on 9/12, so this means I could potentially hear back within the week. Hopefully, Hurricane Florence won’t push anything.

Yes! Best of luck to you!!

Those following this thread may be interesed in the larger thread on this topic (ED Applications for Wake Forest) http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/wake-forest-university/2089323-ed-applications-for-wake-forest-p1.html

As a RD applicant this past year, I applied by December 1 and received my envelope on March 27th (they try to release all the regular decisions by April 1).

Anyone been hearing from Wake ED? We applied 10/2 and haven’t heard

Take a look at the other thread titled “ED applications for Wake Forest.” It seems to take about 4-5 weeks from the date the application was complete. The admissions portal should be able to show you when they received everything. My son’s app was complete 10/1 and he heard 11/5.

You heard by regular mail correct ?

@sanangelo1 yes - Wake always communicates decisions by regular postal mail. The big 8 x 10 brown envelope means you’ve been accepted. (It will have the sketches of people’s faces on it - like the viewbook / tourbook). Other types of decisions will come in a regular envelope.
