I was wondering if anyone has confirmed with the school that all scholarship invitations have been sent out? I thought I remembered reading 2 sets of invites went out for the 2 different weekends.
I just confirmed with Wake Forest timing for the invitations. They are hoping to have all scholarship invitations out by the end of next week.
When are their interviews set for?
Sorry, I didn’t ask the dates.
@slk1000 Good to hear that all invitations are not out yet! Means there’s still hope! When you asked WFU, did you ask specifically for the academic merit ones or all scholarships (my daughter applied to Presidential)? Thanks!!
Does this include students who applied to WFU through Regular Decision too, or only those that applied through ED? Thanks-
I asked if the invitations for merit scholarships have already been sent out to all candidates that will be receiving one. She told me they are hoping to have all invitations out by the end of next week.
About the weekends for the merit scholarships, we asked Wake admissions folks this past fall, and they said: Feb 14-17 and Feb 21-24.
Hello @WakeDad. Do you have an idea of how many merit finalist candidates there are and how many scholarships are available? Thanks!
My apologies, been out of pocket and just now catching up.
I have been told that the tentative dates are as @GerogePBurdell posted, Feb. 14-17 and Feb. 21-24. These dates are for the Academic Merit Scholarships. The Presidential scholarship is separate and I do not yet have the date for that weekend.
The invites go out in waves, so that those who decline to participate, either because of scheduling or having made a decision to attend elsewhere can be back-filled. The intent is to all invites out by the 1st week of February.
All applicants, whether ED or RD will be eligible as long as their application was received and complete by December 1st. The Presidential Scholarship had a preference date of November 15 for completion, with consideration given to applicants past that date as talent areas allow.
Wake awards very few scholarships and/or merit aid based solely on Academic Achievement or stats. The Reynolds, Carswell, Stamps, Gordon, Graylyn and The Presidential Scholarships are awarded based on Academic Achievement, Talent and Exceptional Achievement. You only need to fill out the Admission Application to be considered for these awards. The exceptions are The Presidential Scholarship, The ROTC Scholarship and maybe one other who require a special application and/or permission to apply.
The last number I heard was around 45 of these scholarships are awarded annually. The Presidential is the largest of these with around 20 awards given annually. All of these awards are very, very, very competitive.
The rest of the merit based scholarships and/or aid, are based on academic achievement and financial need. Therefore, to be considered for any of these awards, you would needed to complete the Admission Application, fill out the FASFA form and complete the CSS-Profile for Wake Forest by January 1st.

Good luck to all! Go Deacs!
I thought that you did not need to have demonstrated need in order to be considered for the merit awards? We completed the FAFSA but then realized that we don’t qualify for need based aid. Does that mean my daughter wouldn’t be considered for merit in your opinion @wakedad?
I was a Carswell scholar myself…and my family didn’t qualify for need (although that was a few years ago…ha ha!!)
@mammag Sorry if that wasn’t clear! You are correct, for the Reynolds, Carswell, Stamps, Gordon, Graylyn and The Presidential Scholarships you don’t have to have a demonstrated need to be considered. ALL applicants who applied before Dec. 1 will be considered whether of need or not.
Good luck to your daughter!
I’ve heard of students getting full rides for next year already. Are those part of the scholarships listed in the previous post?
@NCboy The scholarships listed above have not been awarded yet, and won’t be until after the Scholarship Weekends.
However, there are a number of applicants who applied ED, got accepted, filled out the needs-based financial application and met the November 15 dead-line who have already been awarded Financial Aid. Some of those could have been near-full or full scholarships based on their financial need and their academic scholarship.
In addition, some of those applicants may also be invited to the Scholarship Weekends and their needs-based aid could be shifted to Merit Aid if they are chosen for one of those scholarships.
My S applied RD.If he didn’t receive invitation for the scholarship weekend, does that mean he is not getting any full ride merit scholarship?Did anyone get any full ride scholarships that didn’t go through the scholarship weekend?Thank you for your help
I forgot to mention that he applied before December 1st.Visited and interviewed.
For those invited to scholarship weekend, can you please share your stats and whether you applied ED1, ED2 or RD? Also curious to know if any invites are still being received this week. Thanks!
Unless I am misreading the posts, it seems like no one on this thread has yet received notification about academic merit scholarships. Post #26 above indicates that invitations will be out by the end of this week.
Based on Post #9, an invite was sent out on 1/25 for the first of two scholarship weekends on 2/14. Also, based on Post #29 from @WakeDad - “The invites go out in waves, so that those who decline to participate, either because of scheduling or having made a decision to attend elsewhere can be back-filled. The intent is to all invites out by the 1st week of February.”
