I'm so undecided. I love both schools......

if WF offers no merit or aid…it’s Elon in a runaway.

RVM: where are you???

to the OP: very difficult decision for you there; the only thing I can post to help you is consider the fact that Wake is a very rigorous school with strong grade deflation…but a great school!!!..and a much higher price tag than Elon…

disclaimer: daughter is attending Elon in the fall…

My son loved both schools, too. In the end he chose Wake. Now my D is considering Elon. (She already ruled out Wake b/c “it’s her brother’s school.”)

Good luck with your choice.

And, I ditto rodney. Somebody should put out a page to rockvillemom.

Did I hear my name? ncgirl2000 - I responded to your post on the Elon forum - just happened to see that one first. I know both schools quite well - but really need to hear more from you first about majors that interest you.

Is price a consideration? Wake is about $20,000 more than Elon. Per year.

Wake is a tougher school academically - famous for a heavy workload and grade deflation.

I would call the campuses themselves pretty even - both are traditional and attractive campuses. Both are adding new dorms and renovating older ones - that’s a draw.

Sports are at a higher level at Wake - despite this past year’s lousy basketball and football seasons.

Elon has the more innovative 4-1-4 calendar - Wake is the more traditional 5 classes per semester. Both have good study abroad options - but I do like Elon’s January options.

So - how about some more feedback on yourself and then I can try to provide more comparisons.

DougBetsy - that would be pretty cool if we both ended up with one at Wake and one at Elon!

DB: what year is your D? I can’t remember…

I posted this in Elon’s thread as well but I need as many opinions as I can get! I appreciate the help!
I am from Mass. looking to major in business. I was accepted as a business fellow at Elon and at Wake I would apply to the business program later. I want to be involved in greek life, service, and probably IM sports. I definitely want to study abroad as well. With financial aid and scholarships both schools are in the same price range, which makes the decision even harder. I have visited both schools and I love them both. I love the idea of Wake’s sports and schools spirit but I am also worried about the grade deflation and not having enough free time for ECs since there is a harder workload there. I want to be challenged but also involved beyond academics.
Does this help at all? Any comments?

Wake Forest is more highly regarded academically. While most Wake Forest students would be admitted to Elon, the opposite does not hold true.

ncgirl - I responded on the Elon forum. I do agree with the previous poster that Wake> Elon in terms of prestige and the ranking of the business school. But, I think there are some quality of life factors that you may also w want to take into account and I did address those a bit on the Elon thread…

Agreed with minoafrau … if money isn’t an issue then Wake all the way. They’re very similar but Wake is much more highly respected. That being said, if you figure out that Elon is the place for you, it is also a great school so you can’t really go wrong here. However business = Wake, 100%.

rodney, my D is currently in 11th grade.

My brother is a student at Elon, and while I do like the school, I think Wake Forest is going to offer a richer academic experience. However, they are similar schools (culturally), and it really comes down to where you feel more comfortable.
