Thank you!! Let me know when you find out! @CrossingMoney
@ch10dad - Ray I sent you a PM. it should come to your email but you can always just click on the inbox icon at the top of the screen. It should indicate there’s a message (in red)
For all the people complaining about the snail mail, that’s what makes it special! With your acceptance letter, you get a bunch of WFU stickers for free and lots of papers with important information that would be otherwise be ignored to look for something in the email. If i’m not mistaken, they send you a “First Year Bible” with it. Either you get it with your acceptance or later in the Summer, I can’t quite remember.
Nothing here in SC yet

@CarriesBakers That is what I used to think too. But that only applies if you get it quickly. Looking at it from another perspective, if you see other people receiving acceptances and you don’t, you start to wonder if you didn’t make it in and that causes a significant amount of stress especially if WFU is your first choice. It wasn’t bad in the old days but in the era of social media when many others are telling you what is happening to them, it simply doesn’t work anymore.
They should do what UConn does, notify you on the portal and then a few days later you get the package with all of the things you need if you are accepted. And if not, then you know and you can move on rather being stuck in purgatory after a week of waiting.
My son finally got an answer yesterday. Rejection. SAT 1450. GPA u/w is 3.6. Class rank not great due to major medical issues. Not surprised by the rejection due to low class rank and smaller number of ECs. The letter was mailed last Friday, but it took until Wednesday to receive it in North Carolina. Letter suggested that my son go to a different school and then apply as a transfer student. At least the waiting is over.
North NJ we received acceptance package on Monday.
@marky47 I made sure to refrain from checking social media and didn’t even know what CC was at the time, so it wasn’t all that much of an anxiety inducer for me. However, I do remember being pleasantly surprised when the black and gold letter arrived in the mail. Seeing as Wake was not my first choice, I now understand the anxiety in this thread. Thank you for enlightening me
@onthatgrind477 No, they said there is really no way to know when, she indicated people within the same neighborhood could receive it at different times due to mail distribution. But I think that you should receive it sometime this week.
Waitlisted. From MA. 4.15 GPA, 5 AP classes, no test score submitted, two sport athlete, good EC’s, interviewed and visited twice.
D waitlisted from NJ. 3.8 UWGPA with many honors and AP classes.
33 ACT (34 superscore). 11 varsity letters and many EC. Did not interview
Accepted: Umich, Villanova, RU honors, Emory, and Lehigh
WL: Wake and BC
@scooby18 Waitlisted from BC too and accepted into Umich in December. Still waiting on Wake. Which school are you leaning towards?
Ok, what I can’t understand is why people in CT got their letters three days ago and I STILL haven’t gotten mine. They literally searched the post office and there’s nothing. I honestly don’t care if it’s an acceptance or rejection at this point. I just want to know.
My son got a regular envelope today. I assume that means waitlist or rejection, correct?
@NotPeeCee You are correct. It should be a waitlist or rejection notice.
As more of a broad statement to everyone, I talked to admissions yesterday, and here is where we are at:
- At this time, virtually everybody in North Carolina should have received notice.
- Admissions expects that the last of the letters will be received by this weekend. I suppose a few people could receive letters on Monday, but generally speaking, that is very unlikely. For those still waiting, expect a lot of letters coming in today, Friday, and Saturday.
To all those still waiting, I wish you the very best! Go Deacs!
Unreal!
1570 SAT, 800s on both Math and Physics subject tests. 5s on both AP Chem and AP English. Valedictorian. Student council president. 4 year varsity basketball and team captain. Three sport athlete. A scoring runner on his cross country team that finished 4th in NY two years in a row. Volunteered at the soup kitchen, various cancer charity events and the local hospital. Tutored younger kids and started his own basketball camp for underprivileged kids. Was nominated for HOBY and Boys State. I am baffled beyond belief at this point.
@NotPeeCee Welcome to the not so wonderful world of holistic admissions. I gave up trying to figure the admissions process out. There are students with almost identical stats to my son’s and they were accepted. I just check our mailbox and found the dreaded plain white envelope. WFU did stress that how the student performed on the supplemental questions was as important as grades but it does inject that level of subjectivity into the process.
Gone are the days where a good SAT score and not asking for financial aid could get you into an elite school (that was me). I know this is no consolation to you and I am sure my son will be disappointed as well. Best of luck.
Received my acceptance in VA after being away on vacation! 4.3 wgpa, IB Diploma Candidate, Class Council, did not submit test scores
