I received a packet informing me that I wake forest scholar and will receive a wake forest scholarship. Any Idea what to expect? They didn't tell me how much they are giving me.

I did no interview, I have lowish scores and grades, but I'm legacy and NC res.

My son would love to go to Wake, but it’s just too expensive. He plans on going to UNC instead. He made a 1400 on the SAT, but hasn’t received anything hinting at a scholarship from Wake. UNC, Wake, NC State, and Pitt all accepted him. Pitt was the only one to offer scholarship money or Honors College. I was surprised NC State didn’t offer Honors College. He’s a smart kid that apparently did just well enough to get accepted to some good schools but not quite good enough to be offered Honors or scholarship money.

You should be notified of any need based aid your son would get from Wake. State probably has a small honors college and lots of good engineering students. A 1400 is good, thats about what I got, but it takes alot of other stuff this year. I was denied/wait listed from 6 of 10 schools. Some of it seemed almost random. I got into GW but waitlisted at AU. My friend got into Yale, but wait-listed at Tufts.

I’m not sure where I am going. I think GW is my favorite, they offered me enough money to make it comparable to attending UNC. If Wake gives me a big scholarship then i might consider going there. Either way I’m going to try and transfer to Georgetown.

Our child was offered a Wake Forest Scholarship and got both a financial aid letter with that scholarship as one component of the aid, as well as a separate letter of congratulations. I think they arrived a week or more ago. Nice having a merit component of the aid package!
