I am currently a junior in high school and am looking forward to applying to Wake Forest this upcoming school year. I would like to know the stats of those who were accepted - that would really help! Thank You
I will be making another post of my full stats (GPA of junior year, SAT - yikes, E.C’s) in a few months to compare mine to other accepted applicants.
If you determine that Wake is your top choice, I’d highly recommend applying Early Decision. Much easier to get in (around a 50% acceptance rate) than Regular decision (20% or less acceptance rate).
According to this site above the RD rate was 25% and ED was %44. Go to Wake’s common data set to see what is important to them and to get recent stats. My advice is to get a leadership position, get refs from teachers who know you as an active participant in your classes, take a very rigorous course load senior year and spend lots of time on their essays. Also, don’t submit your SATs unless they are super high (high 1400s). GL
The Wake application is rather demanding (more so than most). In addition to your common app essay, they have approx. 10 supplemental short writing responses to unusual / interesting questions. Some see “short” and they think good. Short, in my opinion, is much harder than long as you need to convey your message succinctly.
They highly value quality writing. Take your time and treat their application with the effort it deserves. It makes a difference.
BTW - it’s not all defined by stats. You will find MANY high achieving (by stats). Approx 4 out of 5 are in top 10% of their class with many Vals and Sals. You’ll also find a lot of class presidents, team captains, and club leaders. Some report test scores, some don’t. My S was hanging with some friends and that topic came up. He was floored to find out he was the lowest of his group (mid 1400s). There were several 33-36 ACTs. So really smart kids.
Beyond academics however, what I’ve noticed about the kids I’ve met is they’re all really good at something (music, debate, athletics, leadership, philanthropy, etc.) A good example would be a close friend of S. He was Val, very good baseball player on a very good team, and apparently a fine musician. For his Val speech, he wrote (lyrics and music) and performed a song on acoustic guitar that brought the house down. Very cool kid with that sparkle in his eye. I see a lot of that sparkle on campus.
I would describe them as very smart, great students (who care about being great students), ACTIVE, and social. They get involved in things. Wake values leadership and passion a lot!
I got a 31 single sitting and got in. Their ACT range is 28-32. Not sure if they superscore or not but it’s a smart kids school. Be good at something and spend lots of time on the supplemental essays. There’s a reason why they’re long and required.
I think showing them you’re extremely interested in attending Wake (showed interest) is huge for admissions - they’re very much into their yield %. Get to know your Regional Admissions Officer, email (or have your parents email) Admissions and definitely ED if you know Wake’s your top choice. They don’t really offer Merit scholarships, so, you’re not really losing out on that by EDing.
