Good luck!!
I am applying to transfer as well
Posted this in my own thread but I figured I post here too!
"Hi! My name’s Lauren I’m a current freshman at Fordham University from New Jersey looking to transfer into Wake for the Fall of 2019.
I was hoping someone might be able to chance me/put my stats in perspective!
As previously stated, I am a freshman at Fordham University with one full semester under my belt. I am a history major, French studies minor, and philosophy minor on the pre-med. track. Unfortunately, my first semester grades were not at all what I wanted them to be, leaving me with a S1 GPA of 3.2… While I was successful in my more difficult pre-med science courses and other required courses, I had trouble with one of my professors who threatened to fail me because of a conflict of religious beliefs, the C that I received in this class definitely dragged my GPA down, and I explain this in my transfer statement. But I’m really scared that a 3.2 will be enough to immediately throw me in the rejection pile!
My midterms grades are all As, and I plan on submitting them directly to Associate Dean Marlowe-Rogers (transfer dean who I’ve been in communication with) for consideration. I hope my spring grades will help prove that I am a serious student!!!
My other stats:
Wait Listed as a first year applicant last April
High school GPA: 4.0, took all APs and honors level coursework
SAT: 1380, 770 U.S. history subject test
College ECs:
-Only freshman soprano accepted into the Fordham University Choir and Women’s Choir (gained 2 college credits for involvement)
-Student educator for Peer Health Exchange (volunteer organization that teaches public high school students health education in low income areas where these classes are often cut from curriculums)
-Volunteer for Fordham’s chapter of A Moment of Magic, I played Anna from Frozen (members dress up as Disney characters and visit children’s hospitals) I also raised $550 within 3 weeks for the organization through my own fundraiser selling Pura Vida bracelets
-Member of Fordham’s Chicks with Sticks, aka club field hockey
-Member of Rose Hill Society/Hall Buddies (gave tours and welcomed prospective students into my dorm)
High School ECs:
-Captain of my high school team theatre/speech and debate club
-Won first place at DECA states in the category of Automotive Services Marketing
-Historian of Rho Kappa (chapter of history honor society)
-President of the theatre club, EXTREMELY involved in my h.s. theatre dept
-President of French Honor Society
-Played softball and field hockey
I had my history professor write my letter of recommendation, I ended up with a 99% in the class, so hopefully it will be a solid letter! I also might ask my current philosophy prof. for a L.O.R. as well.
One of my best friends goes to Wake, and I’ve visited the school 3 times within the past year for games as well as a formal visit/info session. Hopefully, my love for the school will shine through in my app.
All in all, will my 3.2 first semester gpa be a deal breaker? I’m also planning on retaking my SAT in March to make up for a 3.2."
I did not know we could submit letters of recommendation.
@prospectivedeac I think your chance is still good. Many freshmen need to adjust to college life during the first semester and did not do well in grades. They should understand that. You can also explain your grade if something happened to you.
@jtransfer22 Same! I am not sure if they ask for it.
Does anybody know when we will hear back?
They said admissions is rolling after April 1st
When is the earliest people in the past have heard back?
I don’t know. From what I’ve seen, most people from last year’s thread didn’t hear back until late April or May
Comment removed.
I emailed the Admissions Office a couple of days ago and they told me late April or early May.
Anyone heard back yet?
no
I received an email today asking for me to send my final grades and until then, my admissions decision is pending.
@jtransfer22 same situation.
What was your gpa?
@Uncapplicant23 3.8
@kcasssuu do you think this means that we are most likely going to be admitted if we do well this semester?
