I am an international student who got into WFU and UIUC. I applied as undeclared major, but I am looking forward to do business major maybe marketing, management, or accounting. Could you guys recommand me where to go? If I choose UIUC, can I be business major for the 1st year?? or should I transfer to business major next year? How hard is it to get As in both school? I might transfer to other school after one or two years.

Wake Forest is highly regarded as is UIUC. I do not know mcuh about the business school at Wake. UIUC’s is highly regarded but be aware of the following:

1, UIUC’s business college usually has only between 600 and 700 students per class year. Transfer depends heavily on seats available at time of transfer.

You will have one and only one chance to transfer into the business college, after freshman year into sophomore year. You apply before end of freshman year and decisons are made after your second semester freshman grades come out. You must complete during your freshman year any required courses that business freshman would normally take as freshman.

The number of transfer applicants accepted each year is less than 50%. You need high grades freshman year to transfer (you should assume you need at least 3.5 or better to have a realistic chance). High grades are no guarantee as essays and ECs are important, a full file review is done and the college has been known to reject some with 4.0 GPAs.

In other words, do not go to UIUC under the assumption that it will be easy to transfer to the business college.

If I dont get into business school after my freshmen year, then do I have to major in other majors?

You have to eventually get out of the Division of General Studies you are in by choosing a major in another college at UIUC and being accepted into it but that choice is not necessary until toward end of sophomore year so you can start in another college beginning of junior year. Unlike the business college, every other college, besides accepting transfers into beginning of sophomore year, accepts transfers from second into third year and some from 3d full semester into fourth semester (your second semester sophomore year)
