Wake forest vs. U of Richmond

Basically I have about a week left to choose between these two schools and I'm planning on majoring in business (finance). After visiting both schools, I really like wake a lot better, but everywhere I go, I hear about how hard the classes are and how weak students' GPAs are compared to other schools. Not only that, but the additional application for the business school after two years scares me because of how hard the pre-reqs apparently are. I'm not trying to be lazy here, but I at least want a chance to earn a solid GPA in order to be attractive to businesses after I graduate. Then again, I don't really want to go to Richmond and sacrifice a great college experience just because I'll have a better GPA.

Anybody care to elaborate on the subject?

I will say two things:

1) the Biz school “officially” announced plans to limit grade deflation

2) The entrance into the Biz school is easy. if you get a half decent grade in 3 intro classes, you should have no problem getting in. I know very few people who didn’t get in honestly–and those ppl are some of the worst students I know at Wake, regardless of major.

Not so sure about the plan to limit grade deflation - a plan was announced after research indicated that there is a factual basis to the perception that business grads at Wake have lower GPAs than their counterparts at peer schools - but my understanding is that the faculty voted against the plan and it is off the table for now.

I don’t think getting accepted into Calloway is that difficult - as long as you have done well in the prerequisite classes - but I do agree that the workload is very challenging and grade deflation is a valid concern. Most classes are graded on a curve - so the issue is not so much how well you did on a particular exam - but how well you did in comparison to your peers. I think the GPA concern is a valid one. But if you are a strong student and are willing to do the work - you will receive an excellent education.
