Hello. Does anyone have any insight on Wake Forest vs. U of Richmond. Both schools are so similar!. I feel generally more comfortable when touring Richmond, i could see myself there. But it seems a little too serious and not enough school pride. I could see myself at Wake also, and it feels more fun, but it might be too big for me. I go to a very small high school. I am looking for a good liberal arts education but with a strong school spirit, strong sports where kids attend the games, and greek life. I dont mind working hard, but want to have time to have a life. Any advice?

Perhaps you can post on the Wake Forest forum, and get some answers from folks with a better knowledge of WFU. (Same advice for U of Richmond.)

I visited URichmond with D and I was pretty impressed with school spirit before and after the visit. I’d long known of the Spiders’ respectable history of big-league men’s college basketball and the support it gets from the Richmond student body. They also have a nice football stadium we saw when we visited, and football seemed to be a point of pride recently. Around the DC area I see as many Richmond as Wake athletic gear. I think Richmond is significantly more center left than Wake. Wake has its own history of athletic and school pride of course. Right now their D1 men’s basketball is mediocre, but great teams like Duke and UNC and FSU come to school regularly. The football team has had some success in the last ten years, sort of like Vandy, the guppie among much larger schools. These are good choices to have, and an overnight might seal the deal for you.

Wake Forest just hired Danny Manning as their new coach so there is a lot of excitement about the coming basketball season.
