I saw on the Virginia Tech parent Facebook page that they have been accepting students off the waitlist already.
Praying WF won’t be too long!
It looks like in year’s past people got a phone call if they were off the waitlist and got the spot. I wonder what number they use?
Saw this update on 4/7 call for waitlist
Definitely make sure y’all check this out! Dean Pitttard is a great guy. He was the person who did my daughters interview.
Has anyone received the e-mail regarding the talk in 4/7? Just trying to see if my daughter is still not receiving communication.
Thx!
No, I haven’t yet. But I also didn’t get an email when the decisions released, I had no clue they did on that Friday.
My daughter didn’t get one when decisions were released either. Don’t you think that’s strange?
I did get the email on Friday regarding the status update, but I have not gotten an email regarding the waitlist meeting on 4/7.
Yeah for sure, I mentioned it to my admission officer when I sent my LOCI and he said he’ll mention it to his colleagues to figure out what happened. I’m just glad to know I wasn’t the only one.
Yes, same here. It’s hard not to feel personally offended that you’re not even receiving communication from them. I wonder if it was just a glitch. They need to figure it out.
Just got the email for the webinar
Ok, thx…will keep an eye out…don’t know what to think if this one doesn’t come🤭
I just go it too
Got it!
I got the webinar email too. I don’t think I ever got an email about my portal updating but I don’t think it’s a bad sign. For anyone interested I’m tracking wake commits vs wake acceptances as people post and follow social media accounts. At the moment about 564 are 100% committed to wake which seems pretty good since they’re look fro 1200-1300 students. i know two people from my school that were accepted but are pretty sure they won’t be going. three other people from my school were accepted ed and ed2. also wake only had 3,000 more apps i doubt they just waitlisted people because they didn’t have time. last years decisions came out like march 20 ish and admissions said decisions would be out march 28-31st. so if they need extra time they easily could’ve taken it. plus there’s like 18 or 19 admissions counselors. also they have been getting applications since august not just since november (so they’ve had an early start compared to other colleges). can we share our stats and level of interest. i put that i would love to be considered up until august 1st. last year 100 people were accepted off the waitlist by april 22-24. so let’s all pray that ivies accept all the wake applicants. my stats are as follows
94.66 wgpa
TO for all my schools
all state and player of the yr for volleyball (plus captain)
leadership roles in ram council (committee for substance free living)
william pitt sotheby’s admin assistant
my own collage business inspired by my love for wake and the initial excitement from applying
etc…
white female from ct
25 people applied from my school in total. 3 got in ed/ed2 and i know that 2 def were accepted rd (99+ gpas)
attend top ranked public school
also i forgot to mention 805 people have been accepted that i 100% know of atm. obviously it’s more (somewhere between 3500-4000) but those are the ones following the insta/facebook aka showing some sort of interest. everyone else that got in probably aren’t interested. tbh we won’t rlly know anything until after april 6 (ivy day) and hopefully the webinar can answer questions like how many people were accepted? how many people were waitlisted? when will they take a look at the waitlist? are they expecting the waitlist to remain active until august 1? how many exact slots are they looking to fill this year? (last yr was like 1440 when usually it’s supposed to be 1200/1300. i’m not sure if that’s due to the maya angelou residence hall or if they accidentally admitted way too many students) to be honest wake is definitely more than just a dream school to me. here’s some of my college decision results
accepted:
clemson
elon
loyola
lehigh
waitlisted:
richmond
bucknell (very surprising)
wake (obvi)
probably tulane (i hear later today)
atm im trying to debate whether to just do a yr at elon, have fun, then transfer second semester or sophomore yr to wake. (plus transfer won’t be a big deal at all because it’s like 45 min away like super super simple) or going to clemson. i’ll probs love it way too much to transfer. the thing is i don’t think it even matches my academic level and i rlly want to prosper academically. idrk abt lehigh but it’s t50 and that’s something to consider. gives me bad vibes tho. my counselor said i would def probs be offered a spot at bucknell as it was very much a safety (7 kids got accepted from ed and many many people applied from my school so that def had an impact). i also have a sense i might get off richmonds waitlist because of connections thru my moms best friend that i initially didn’t use because i thought i’d j get into wake ed and honestly didn’t pay any attention to the other colleges i applied to.
I go to a large public school in Georgia and am fairly positive I’m the only one who applied to Wake from my school
I have a 91 average GPA
13 AP Classes out of the 21 my school offers (AP Scholar)
1320 SAT (taken Sophomore year, I couldn’t risk taking it since the virus went widespread because I live with someone who is immunocompromised)
Leadership role in my school’s mental health awareness club (we expanded from 50-300 since I got there, obviously it wasn’t all me but I helped)
Leadership role in planning my school’s Exceptional needs Prom
Leadership Role in JROTC and Drill Team (my event got 1st in regionals, State & Nationals were cancelled)
African American/Afro Caribbean girl
I did not demonstrate any interest at all. I applied the last week we had to turn them in, if not the last day. Honestly, I applied because I was told I need more than 4 schools on my college list and the writing prompts were fun. I felt like the “why this school” “why this major” prompts weren’t doing anyone any good so I jumped at this one. Since realizing I should probably know where I applied, I’ve fallen in love with Wake, hence why I pursued the waitlist.
For my PS, I used the story of how my stepmom’s dog tore up my childhood stuffed animal as a metaphor for how my childhood was ripped away from me after someone close to me died.
My top 10 list was best musical soundtracks. Hamilton was at the top (yes, I’m that girl)
And the book I wrote about was The 6 pillars of Self Esteem, and how it lowkey explains the crazy stuff teenagers do.
I got accepted to the following:
Northeastern
UGA
George Washington
Suffolk
Florida Southern College
I’ve never been a fan of the “chance me” things bc I would have been told to give up on Northeastern, which is where I will be attending if I don’t go to Wake.
I also go to a large public school in Georgia, and I’m pretty sure I am the only one that has applied to Wake from my school.
I have a 3.73 GPA
I have taken/taking 7 APs and 9 Honor classes
I chose to submit my application without my SAT scores
I’ve played Football all 4 years, Defensive captain for senior year
I ran Track 9th grade and 10th grade
I work as a sound technician for my Church, all 4 years
Created a Media Team for my church due to the pandemic
I have done some volunteer work for my county’s youth football league
I’ve also been working a part-time job since 10th grade
and I am a Congolese-American
I did the interview in June 2020 and went on a Campus visit in Sep 2020. I applied ED1 to Wake, got deferred, and then now Waitlisted. If offered admission from Waitlist, I would definitely accept.
I’ve been accepted to U of Richmond, Berry College, Wofford College, Georgia Southern, and Georgia State
And then I was offered a transfer pathway to Georgia Tech
Might as well put my stats:
I go to a private school on the west coast where 8 kids applied. I know for sure that two got in and at least one is for sure going.
I have a 3.9 UW and 4.3 W GPA with 6 APs and 11 honors
I played football for 4 years and was a captain my senior year
I threw shot put for the last three years
I have over 100 community service hours through multiple organizations
Secretary of the Finance Club for my school
I visited last February and interviewed in September with strong demonstrated interest throughout the entire process.
I would have applied early decision but I am slightly worried about financial aid and my parents wanted me to keep my options open.
If I get off the waitlist and get the amount of financial aid I expect to then I will for sure go, so all there is to do now is wait
