Wake or Boston U?

I was accepted to Boston with about $42000 in grants to the College of Arts and Sciences and to Wake with almost a full ride as a Wake Forest and Heritage Scholar. Even though Wake has a better science/premed department, I'm having a really tough time deciding between the two. I live about an hour from Wake and really love the campus and the atmosphere but Boston University is, well, in Boston. Any advice or opinions? Thanks!

Both are solid schools…and the money you are being offered is awesome…cost benefit goes to Wake…but it appears that Boston has an emotional pull for you. If money is not an issue…follow your heart to Boston. If money is important…Wake is a clear choice. S received Heritage but has not received FA package yet. He really wants Wake! Mind sharing EFC so he has an idea of what he could expect?

If I interpreted the FAFSA right, then our EFC is about $8000. Boston is so alluring because it is on the water, has am awesome residential community, and great study abroad options. But wake is just as awesome because it’s the typical American college. Even though BU is 14 hours away and Wake is only 45 minutes, I feel like at Boston there would be more internship and just general opportunity. But I have a few friends going to Wake also. See why this is so confusing?!

I do see why… Plus for you it is an oppty to really go away to school. Sounds like your decision is made…with a only a couple reasons to choose Wake…the only real difference is money.

Only thought I would offer is to consider that you will likely have more money to pursue other interest and activities at Wake. You don’t want to spend all available money on tuition, room and board and leave no money to do fun things with…Greek life, random trips with friends, concerts, an other stuff. You may have a better college experience where you have extra money to participate in other activities.

That’s true. At Boston, I’d have to take about $8000-$10000 in loans a year. After Wake’s scholarships, I’ll also get the NC Education Grant that will cover the rest of my costs. I guess I will just have to wait to be sure until after I go to BU’s open house Friday. Thanks!
