<p>I'm in at both schools, and I can't decide which one to attend. I'm steadfast on the pre-med track for my undergraduate studies and I understand most of the intricacies of what makes a good pre-med school, i.e good advising, no grade deflation. Here's where it gets interesting, I have a $30,000 dollar scholarship to Wake every year, so I makes me wonder if Michigan is worth an extra monay after four years with the onset of medical school (hopefully). Both of them of similarly regarded though I personally view Michigan higher. In addition, Wake has a liberal arts curriculum that fully supports the pre-med track, however Wake is notorious for grade deflation. I don't know if this helps, but given Michigan's size, they have 550 kids apply to med school in the end with roughly 60% getting in, whereas given Wakes 5,000 strong size, they have around 85 kids apply to med school with 80% getting in. I know these are just numbers and aren't the most important factor in getting into med school, but I thought I'd put them out there. I'm wondering how much will Wake's smaller classes help me compared to Michigans much larger classes.</p>

<p>Did you double deposit? Did you get a late call from wait list? Decisions like this were made months ago for class of 2015.</p>
<p>The money factor is a family decision , but most will say save money for medical school.
Both are first rate, but large Midwest public or smallish quasi southern private ?
I would choose Wake , but it’s not my choice.
Be wary of published medical school acceptance rates, many undergrad premed programs weed out weak applicants( won’t write recommendations etc).</p>

<p>Double Deposit. Well since only 1/3 of pre-meds make it to matriculation, I’m also looking for a school thats good in other areas as well (pre-law, and business) both of which are ranked very highly at Michigan. Most importantly though, I need a place where I can do well at. Wake’s small size will probably benefit me, but their tougher grading certainly won’t.</p>
<p>Really can’t stand the double deposit. It’s incredibly selfish. You are holding onto a spot at two great universities - and one of those spots could have gone to someone else. I hope no one here gives you any further advice or suggestions - you don’t deserve our time or help.</p>
<p>sorry if i offended anyone. I made an effort not to deprive anyone of a spot at these universities when I was teetering between the two and I did not. Michigan took 0 (ZERO) students off the wait-list this year, and I called Wake to make a deposit after the deadline had passed, when they had already finished going through the wait-list and they were kind enough to let me do so. The people at Wake even said they always keep extra dorms for unusual situations as the such. I am an out of state student from New Jersey. Personal apology to Brave Ulysses and rockvillemom</p>
<p>jc - you don’t owe me a personal apology. But I think you have to realize that tens of thousands of high school seniors made their choice and paid their one deposit by May 1 - and it really bothers me when someone thinks that they alone have a unique situation and that they alone don’t have to play by the rules that everyone else does - and that they deserve special consideration and treatment.</p>
<p>Oh god! shouldn’t have done double deposit. Okay. As a pre-med student at Wake I can tell you that education here for undergrads is just awesome compared to my friends who have to sit in classes with 200 students. Also, the $30k makes the diff… At this level, it doesn’t matter much which uni you go to for pre-med since they’re both elite schools. Instead, if you choose Wake you save money that is more than half of your-med school tuition fees. So if I were you, I’d choose Wake.</p>
<p>I agree with themaniac- the money factor is a huge plus (pun intended! :)), but I have heard from my Wake graduate son (history major) that his friends who were pre-med felt that the pre-med environment is not so cut-throat, which is conducive to doing well overall.</p>
