I applied to Wake Forest Regular Decision, and I received a notification that I was a finalist for the Presidential Scholarship. Does anybody know if being a Presidential Scholarship finalist has a meaningful impact on whether you are going to be accepted into the school? Does that mean you are already in regardless of whether you receive the scholarship?
Hi,
Did you get in?
My daughter got an email today saying that she is a finalist.
Did you find out if she got accepted? The same thing with my daughter. But we are unsure if she got accepted or it is two separated process. She did RD
Don’t know if she is accepted…she did RD as well. Taking it as a good sign?
Is she a finalist for music, dance, drama, other?
Congratulations and best of luck to her!
She’s a finalist in music. Thank you!!
My son had his audition Monday. Did your daughter have hers? Will they hear about these scholarships at admission time? Did you get any info about decision dates?
She auditioned today via zoom for music. No info about decision dates but I don’t think she asked that question. Best of luck to everyone!
The interviewers told my son it would be after April 1, but that seems like a long time from today (when decisions are being released).
Just got acceptance letter. Auditioned via zoom for music on Thursday. Maybe Presidential Scholarship info will come out Wednesday with Financial Aid?
Same for my son. Accepted today. Auditioned Monday. I’m thinking it will come with the financial aid package maybe?
Got an email yesterday with notification that she was chosen for the Presidential scholarship in music.
Congratulations!! What instrument? What do you think of the music department? Will she be a music major? I’m trying to give my son more information about Wake’s music department. Will she be in the marching band?
Thank you! I will PM you with more information
Can you elaborate a bit more? Is it for an instrument or voice? Also any insight into music experience for non music majors?
Instrument. My daughter actually doesn’t feel like she knows the music department very well, because her audition was on zoom. I think that probably makes the process more equitable for people who live far away, but I think because they used to do the finalist auditions in person, it was their chance to sell the school and help the student get to know the department. My daughter wants to double major in music and history, so looking for Liberal Arts colleges that are strong in both. Some music scholarships that she applied for are conditional on majoring in music (UNC) and others are emphatically not (Davidson, Furman). Wake Forest seems to encourage majoring in music or double majoring for scholarship recipients, but they all seem open to non-majors joining ensembles.
Thank you so much. That’s good information.
