Wake Transfer Chances?

I am currently a freshman Engineering Student at Virginia Tech. I was wondering if I have ANY chance whatsoever at Wake. My stats are HORRIBLE!!!! But much to my surprise, I was admitted to some decent colleges out of high school. Admitted: Penn State--Engineering, NC State-Engineering, UMD-College Park--Engineering, Virginia Tech--Engineering.
My stats are as follows:

College GPA: 3.44
High School GPA: 3.81
SAT: 1120 600M 520V

I have a LOT of good EC's, that also include leadership positions--which I think may have helped my chances to the aforementioned schools out of high school. Please let me know if I have ANY chance to get into Wake.

I am a sophomore at Wake now and the people I know who transferred here had pretty high college GPAs: SUNY-Albany 3.8 and Boston College 3.9, but you never know. I would still apply. Good luck!

haha...I know that I dont have much of a chance...I just have a lot of respect for Wake and the quality of education that it provides. It would be a dream come true if I were accepted--so I figure that its worth a shot. I dont know if it would be right to say that I have NO chances...but I realize that they are very slim. Thank you for your response.

You have to take another stab at the SAT. Assuming you've taken some english- and math-related courses, you should definitely score higher. My advice, take the SAT again, aim for 1300.

Yeah...Ive definitely been thinking about retaking it...I really think that I'll need to. Im sure that if I retake it I will score around 1300...Ive taken some practice tests since then...and have scored 1280-1310..pretty consistently. Hopefully if I can do that on the real SAT, I'll have a better chance. Thank you very much for your input..I really appreciate it :) Going to Wake Forest is a dream of mine...I definitely have a lot of respect for the school and the quality of the student that it produces...again thank you :) Any more suggestions?

You should always visit, officially, and sign up for a tour. It helps knowing this place inside and out, being familiar with the professors, alumni, and students. If you're committed to transferring, start putting together your application, make sure you finish the remaining semesters at VT with a bang, and start prepping for the new SAT :). Aim for whatever a 1300 on a 1600 scale is in a 2400 scale.

Thanks a lot...I really appreciate your feedback. Ive visited Wake..and loved it. The Campus seemed a more conservative than most college campuses--which I love. The people were very friendly--it definitely had the Southern Atmoshpere without sacrificing great academics...and to top it all off--the campus was beautiful. I heart Wake :) Thanks again for your repsonse :)

No problemo. One thing about the conservatism, it's not incredibly conservative. I would think the students are half and half. Also, some people complain that politics profesors are too liberal (most suppress their own views and allow fair discussion) and I get an impression that economics professors are conservative (they are fair, however). When you get to Wake, don't be surprised if you meet a liberal lunatic that has abortions for fun! (just KIDDING). Seriously, I suppose the adminstration is conservative but students and professors are a different story.

Umm... I'm going to ignore part of the last post and respond to part of it. emsibdn, have you noticed that our class is more liberal than the classes above us? Maybe I've not really had enough experience with the other classes, or maybe it's because it was an election year and people were more apt to talk about their political views, but I was really surprised at how liberal our class is.

VTEngineer, I'm curious as to why you're so interested in Wake if you want to go into engineering. Don't get me wrong, I love Wake and think that most people would love it here, too, but we aren't exactly known for our engineering program (which is more or less non-existant). Of course I might be biased because I come from North Carolina and have quite a few friends at State in the Engineering school

Thats the reason for me transferring...I have decided that I dont want to study Engineering anymore. Wake is a well rounded school and thats what Im looking for..

Right, like I said, there's a fair share of liberals and conservatives at Wake. I don't know much about the classes of '07 and '06, but I suppose they are more conservative, on average, than us. A simple facebook search has us about evenly split, 50-50, conservative and liberal.

I would say thats a lot more conservative than a LOT of college campuses :)
