Wal-Mart is a disgrace to America

"Anyways wheres that one girl? I guess she got pwned too hard."

lol..no, I'm actually getting ready to go to dinner with my boyfriend..after all, it is Saturday night!

But sure..you guys win. What was it..like 10 of you against me?? and you proved what? that walmart is great? big accomplishment.

So it is technically not even possible that everyone can live the above outlined version of the American dream.

Thats why outsourcing is good.

If WalMart has lower prices then anyone other store in town don't they deserve to be a monopoly.

Well they probably would become one, cause thats where I would shop.

"But sure..you guys win. What was it..like 10 of you against me?? and you proved what? that walmart is great? big accomplishment."

Your just mad because u know ur argument fails under pressure.

The thing is that many of the kids at college confidential are living the American Dream themselves.

Billhpike, could you please expand on your last statement? How do you define the American Dream? How do many CC kids fulfill this criteria?

Thank you.

I havent lived the American Dream YET, but my parents are.

The American dream is the idea that through hard work and determination anyone can achieve a better life.

A lot of kids here are the first one in their families to go to college. Not only are they going to going to college but they are going to this country's top universities with generous financial aid.

Certianly the majority of kids at CC are the children of very welthy parents. However, maybe 5% - 10% are first gneration. The rest have parents who have already fulfilled the American Dream.

Tallkell I would hardly call this argument. An argument is something about which two different parties have something meaningful to say. As far as I can tell, the meaningful discussion has come from the capitalist side.

The main reason for creating a movie like "WALMART: the high cost of low price" is to bring awareness and to get people talking.

Mission accomplished.

Ya but ur "awareness" failed, it only caused people to show how ur argument is false.

my awareness did not fail. all of you have seen the movie my brother produced. and here you are..talking about it.

just because i did not convince a bunch of close-minded students to think differently does not make my argument false.

One day you will understand...but until then, enjoy your ignorance.

Do u hear urself?! Do u think before u type?? U R THE IGNORANT ONE!

I just finished reading Thomas L. Friedman's section on Wal-Mart in "The World is Flat."

It's interesting how Wal-Mart themselves admitted that while they've got a great, efficient way of meeting demand (almost perfect equilibrium, amazingly), they have a long way to go with making their hiring and employee practices match.

So while I can't say that they're the Devil himself, they do have some work to do.

"Do u hear urself?! Do u think before u type?? U R THE IGNORANT ONE!"

Wooowww..slow down, cowboy. No need to get all upset. I understand you can't prove any of your claims..that's ok. I don't hate you..after all, you are giving only more attention to the walmart film and that certainly can't hurt. =)

I think Lewis Black put it best as far as the film was concerned.

"Oh my God! Wal-Mart's marching on Poland!"

What I dont understand is how u just post that everyone who doesnt side with u and ur film is ignorant and close-minded. To me, that's what makes YOU so ignorant. And Im not getting upset, it just makes me wonder how people can be so ignorant and close-minded to the truth when they see the facts.

What facts are you referring to?

The fact that walmart forces their employees to apply for medicaid if they want health insurance? The fact that walmart ruins small businesses? The fact that walmart destroys communities? The fact that walmart does not provide security cameras to prevent rape, theft, and murder? The fact that walmart discriminates against women? The fact that walmart has sweatshops in China? The fact that walmart shaves employees' hours so they don't have to pay them overtime? The fact that walmart opposes unions?

Have u not been paying attention to the last 9 pages of posts? U obviously havent because every single one of ur "facts" has been shot down, but u only believe what u want. Thats not my problem, u have some built in issues in ur life, called brain washing from ur brother, that u need to take care of. Im unsubscribing to this thread because u r too ignorant and thick-headed to think about other viewpoints. I hope u choose one day to make ur own opinions instead of just adopting ones that ur brother told u.
