How hard is it to obtain a walk in audition at Unified? Can anyone who has done a walk in audition explain the procedure.
Do you sign up in the morning and audition that day? What documentation do I need to provide? Do you turn in resume and head shot? Since it is a walk in how will you know what they want in the audition. Dance call? Audition fee cash, check or credit card? Any information you can share about your walk in audition experience at Unified would be greatly appreciated! Thank You
Walk ins are actually very easy to navigate. Many schools were offering walk in opportunities when my daughter attended Unifieds last year. Some of the lesser known programs were almost completely filling their audition slots via walk ins. The schools will generally have a notice posted that they are taking walk ins. Generally there is a sign up sheet with times that can be selected. The requirements are usually included on the announcement but they fell in the standard monologue/song requirement of other schools so no surprises. And yes, headshot and resume were requested. Most walk ins did not include a dance call but the couple that did provided the times up front so you could plan accordingly. The ones that had a charge seemed to accept both checks and credit card. It seems like a mysterious and difficult process but truly was very simple once you are there and going through the process.
I remember kind of freaking out about walk-ins before the fact, because, let’s face it, if you’re on here you’re at least a planner and possibly a control freak (I was), and these things are hard to plan and/or control, but as @sopranomtmom says, it’s pretty self-explanatory once you get there. You walk around, you ask people and you bring a checkbook. My S did one and got an offer from it and thought about another one but ended up bagging it.
