Walk-Ins/Drop-Ins at Unifieds

This concept is so confusing to me! Could anyone clarify how it works? Whatever happened to applications? (and application fees? could this potentially save money, or am I just crazy? :)) What schools take walk-ins? How does that experience differ from a scheduled unified audition or an on-campus audition? So many questions... thanks! :)

Some, NOT all, schools IF they have an open audition slot will let students sign up for them at the Unified. If you are able to sign up for a walk in slot your audition will be very similiar to pre-scheduled auditions The auditioner will give you an application due date and you will receive your results per the school’s procedures after they have received your application and evaluate your acceptance.

You will not be saving any money as you will NOT receive results until after the school has received your application and fees. The only possible way you will save money is if after applying you decide that you will not submit an application as something in the audition gave you the impression that the school would no longer be a good fit.

Reasons for a walk in include
discovering a school would be a good fit after the deadline for scheduling auditions
and the chance to audition for a school that you did not have the time or money to complete an application by the initial due date.

Reasons for scheduling auditions include
the security of having an audition scheduled for schools you are interested in.

If there are schools you are interested in I strongly suggest submitting the application and fees and scheduling the audition in advance.

And make sure someone has the checkbook with them if you are planning on doing walk ins because some schools will ask for the audition fee before they let you walk in.

Thanks for the info. I don’t intend on doing this (but then again, you never know!), I’ve just seen it mentioned more than once and I was wondering what it was all about.
