Yeah, I know nothing about the football team except to cheer for them (especially Clement, Dillard, and Casey)...maybe the Rice Athletics website would have something? I have no idea...

Two of my good friends are football walk-ons. I'm not sure how they got the position, but I know that it takes up a TON of their time. If I remember to, I'll ask them how one becomes a walk-on.

One of my friends is a walk-on as well. It does take up a TON of time, and he doesn't get to play his first year; he practices with the team but sits on the bench during the games. I'll ask him next time I see him around if I remember as well.

There's 2 main ways you can walk-on: be a preferred admit (basically you are on the cusp of academically qualifying for admission, but don't quite get in, but the coaches are allowed to get you on), or be a straight up walk on (as in you try out for the team at beginning of year). Most walk-ons (like at any other school) are probably gonna be redshirted, but some can find their way on to special teams, etc. Either way, get in touch with the coaches, send them film and relative stats, ask for workout regimens, and keep them posted of your application status in the spring. My friend was a preferred admit- and he's redshirted this year, but he sent them in video and was on the cusp of getting a scholarship, but was just outside the limit.
