I got another e-mail but this time from Mike Atienza, an academic adviser and he included these links if anyone’s interested.

[UC Faculty Walkout - 9/24](http://ucfacultywalkout.com/)

[Walkout @ UC Riverside on September 24th, 2009 | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)

“All students who do not attend class on September 24 thus HAVE THE SUPPORT OF THE MAIN UC STUDENT ASSOCIATION, as do instructors who walkout”

How many are planning on not showing up to class or joining?

I understand as to why they’re doing this but I in no way want to ruin my semester by being dropped or anything else that might happen lol.

I got an email today from UCSC:
"The union representing Research Support Professionals and Technical employees (UPTE) has announced its intention to conduct a one-day UC systemwide strike on Thursday, September 24.

I am sending out this message so that you can plan accordingly and ask for your cooperation to ensure we maintain our commitments to our students and to the campus community in the event of the strike.

It is essential that all employees understand their rights and the obligations of the University when considering whether to participate in a strike or honor a picket line. The University expects all faculty, staff, academic, and student employees to meet their normal obligations to the University in the event of a strike. Those who do not report to work will not be paid unless prior approval for a legitimate absence has been granted. Those who call in sick on the day of the strike are required to provide documentation to their supervisor from a health-care provider in order to receive approval for the absence.

We have posted a web site that contains important information for all employees and their supervisors. The Public Affairs Office will post transportation and other strike-related updates to this site as that information becomes available: <a href="http://www.ucsc.edu/strike/“>http://www.ucsc.edu/strike/”

It appears that not every UC is as excited about the walkout as UCR is.
