hi, i'm looking into walnut hill for the end of my junior year and my senior year. i dont come from a very wealthy family but its my dream to go to this boarding school. i was wondering from anyone who goes there or has kids going there, how are they on financial aid? and how going to this school could help me for my college years? any other information would be great too. I have my application and i plan to visit and audition soon. I'm in contact with the dean of theater and i am on their mailing list. any thing about walnut hill will be a great help! thanks so much!

D has lots of friends there on FA. Think about doing the summer program if you want a sense of what it is like. No academics, but strong arts, and many of the summer kids go on to enroll in the fall.

My daughter (now in college) attended WHS for 2 years. Very few (if any) students get a free ride and their policy is interesting in that they give some money (about 5,000) to students from fairly wealthy familes but not really enough to help those who are most in need. My D received about $15,000 out of the total tuition (then about 30 K) and that was one of the higher awards that we we aware of. We went deeply into debt to send her there for two years. Senior year, she went to our public HS. It is a tough choice if your family really does not have the money. Even though she learned alot, I am not sure if I would do it again, simply because we really could not afford it.
