This is a cross post in pre-college summer too

Hi! I was accepted into the Walnut Hill Summer Theatre Program (yay!) and I had a few questions for anyone who may have been there. Does anyone know how rigorous the dance/"movement" portion is, because I have absolutely no dance experience. Also, how much free time do we get. I'm completely dedicated to the shows, but it would be nice if I was able to keep up my running scheduleat least at their gym if not outside.

I am really excited to go and would appreciate any info or tips you have!

My D did the WH program for two years. She is also not a dancer and it was not a problem. The classes are leveled for dance, voice and drama, so you will likely be grouped with others with less dance experience. The schedule is very busy, classes in the AM with rehearsals for the drama and the musicals in the afternoon. The teaching is superb (many teachers from conservatories who do this for the summer). The level of talent and skill in the students is also superb. It is very competitive to get the bigger parts, but the productions are very high caliber so even the chorus roles are a significant learning experience. There is some free time and scheduled field trips. Most take the opportunity to hang with friends on campus, walk to Natick center for ice cream, etc. Should not be a problem to get your runs in, the school is in a very safe residential neighborhood, there is a gym (not my D’s thing so she did not spend a lot of time there and I don’t know the quality), and a nice outdoor pool.
