To students who are applying next year I'd say that the essays are really really important, and dont' write about terrorism unless it's different (like i applied to the concentration with tech. and foreign service and wrote about cyberterrorism).

i think my ECs were my weak suit. oh well... i'm going to keep trying!

My daughter was waitlisted today with stats very similar to those appearing here. Some comfort. But the moral of the story is that you kids are all amazing, and those who were rejected today will be accepted at some great places and will be just fine. You have already achieved some pretty impressive things in your young lives and will go far. Just not at Georgetown, alas. So brush it off, hang in there and hope for better news on Friday.

Rejected
SAT: 670 M, 680 CR, 690 W
SAT II: 670 Chemistry, 680 US History, 690 Spanish, 710 Math II
GPA: 4.88
Class Rank: 4/488

No idea why rejected because my entire application was geared towards a foreign service career. In the fall I took a Global Economics class at a well-known university and was one of 2 kids to make an A+ out of 45. They sent my transcript. My essays were phenomenal according to my english teacher, and the one for Walsh was unique and I am sure no one wrote about what I did. Plus, I volunteer for a month + out of the country each summer....

i heard people that get rejected from georgetown get into ivy leagues hopefully that will be the case with me :)

Rejected...but seeing as a lot of people were, I don't feel quite as bad.
SAT: 800 W, 710 CR, 720 M
SAT II: 700 US, 720 Lit, 650 Math I
GPA: 3.7 UW, 4.2 W
Unranked
Amazingly strong E.C.s

Hello Hoyas....DD was rejected today. She did however get an amazing acceptance and full tuition at BU, so it's all good! Other amazing financial aid packages came from American and Ohio State. Good luck to all in making decisions!

For all of those students who were waitlisted or denied admission, you may wish to check out the following link, posted elsewhere by a Cornell alumni interviewer who was so impressed with all of the prospective applicants he met, and wanted to arm them for some disappointment on April 1. It's called The College Rejection Letter by David Nyhan.
