i think you have a decent shot

4 of my friends got into Haas last year. None of them had 4.0’s. PM me or IM me if you want my honest opinion about getting into Haas

why don’t you just post them here?

and the people who say ecs or their essays or their job exp got them admission into a certain school…they don’t really know if that’s true or not and in most cases its all talk. the fact of the matter is if you get in you get in but its ******** to say X was the reason.

Most people that apply to HAAS do not have the requirements done and HAAS auto rejects their application but they still count as part of the application pool.

Their acceptance rate is around 20-22% which is not that bad - not nearly as bad as Harvard or Yale.

And what is your transferable GPA? Business GPA is not the same thing. In either case between your 3.9 and 4.0 your GPA is up there anyways and it is fine.

I would say that if you emphasized your internship and its impact on you in your essays you will have a chance at admission but a lot of applicants that stand out start their own companies or something to that effect.

Malishka31-

You are correct, Haas acceptance rate is 21% due to the fact that most applicants do not even complete the required prereqs.

I am planning to emphasize my internship in my essay(s) and hopefully will be obtaining a second internship this summer.

lol? u guys sound like ur comforting urselves.
doesn’t EVERY MAJOR have a ton of rejects due to incomplete pre reqs?
if you are willing to boost the acceptance rate of haas then u should boost it for UCLA biz econ or in fact every major out there
only by doing that won’t it be fair?
true… haas has tougher reqs so more than 1/2 are not “qualified”. how about we half the applicants of other majors and calculate the “TRUE” admission rate. then u’d see how EASY other majors are to get in?

simple as that

Guardianangel-

I don’t believe we are comforting ourselves. The matter of the fact is many students are fooled by the 7% admission rate into Haas. I was one of them until I found out over 60% of the 1300 applicants are not credible due to incomplete prereq. Let’s be honest, 21% looks a lot better than 7%.

true… it IS better.
but when you take it into consideration that every competitive major in every school has a huge percentage of applicants are not eligible for review due to incompletion of pre reqs, that still makes haas a lot harder to get into.

and don’t 4get, those people that ACTUALLY complete all pre reqs for haas have every intention of getting in. i doubt many of those eligible are below a 3.6 or even a 3.7 GPA.

so it comes down to the best of the best really.

if ur competing with average applicants… true 21% so really easy
but if ur competing with the top of the state, then 21% is pretty darn hard won’t you think?

Not necessarily to be honest with you. But I understand your logic.

You have a very decent chance of getting in, just understand that even 4.0’s are denied admittance. Haas isn’t necessarily the best school in the world for business, but it’s definitely up there. Graduate school is far more important, and a lot of colleges do not want their own undergraduate students coming back for their MBA program.

But keep your hopes high. I’ll be crossing my fingers for you.

mrxmark-

Thank you for the information. I am aware that 4.0 students get rejected from the admission pool. I was actually at CAL Day last weekend and attended several Haas workshops. The admission committee for Haas also noted this.

MBA is very important, but Haas has been somewhere I’ve wanted to go for awhile now. Not only this, but close family of mine are currently enrolled and have graduated from Haas, which adds to the incentive ;)

Sounds great man I wish you the best! Truthfully, I believe your stats are significantly higher than the majority of transfer-applicants.

Oh yeah I re-read my post and I did not mean to come off condescending, my apologies.

Mark-

No worries, thank you for the kind wishes! I too, have my fingers crossed!

PM me if you want to talk about your chances.

Who else will be applying this coming Fall 2008?

Bump!

Would like to see this thread be more active. Don’t mind if we branch off!

i am applying in fall 2008 to ucla physiological science. but i’m coming from uci which puts me at a HUGE disadvantage and i’m pretty sad about that. i just really badly wanna go to ucla. good luck with your admission.i need the luck too.

I’m also applying to Haas this coming fall. But I’m getting very skeptical after reading all those comments…even though I have 4.0 and all pre-req. will be done by the end of this semester, my ECs are not as significant and I’m out of state student…so I can just hope and see what’s the decision in 10 days. Haas is my number 1 choice so i keep my fingers crossed

UCB/NYU dreamer,

Have you already applied to Haas? I ask this because you noted you “can just hope and see what’s the decision in 10 days.”

I am applying to Haas as well. ^o^
My chance of getting in there would be 1%, so keep my fingers crossed.
