i don’t really have any internship/work for my major. I have a part time job but it’s not really in my major, plus 6 classes a semester, non credit leadership class etc. so i mentioned as much as i could about all the other stuff that helps to make a good leader out of me…participated in leaders seminars, little volunteering involvement, treasurer etc…just whatever you write about, make it sound really good

Thanks UCB/NYU dreamer.

Good luck to you guys!

Hey Russiky, yeah thats what i meant. lol sorry about the confusion.

Here you go:

2008 Applicants

Prompt #1 (transfer applicants)

What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field — such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities — and what you have gained from your involvement.
Prompt #2 (all applicants)

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

kmzizzle-

That is understandable. But I would highly suggest going out and finding EC you can participate in. Think of it this way, most students that will be applying will have the grades and course load, the competitive applicants have the grades + EC, leadership, etc.

so hey im applying in the fall 08 as well and also am applying as a transfer student. I havent done to much this year besides forming a biz club and doing some other random what not like volunteering and working any other things i should be doing? i did apply for internship for the summer as well.

Your on the right track! You should be doing more though!

Do whatever interests you that shows leadership potential!

Where have you applied to intern? Have you heard back yet?

i applied at like 2 small business that are in the tech industry. How did you get into these state business leaders confrence deals and how did you hear about them? I currently go Berkeley City College and i dont hear about any of this stuff!

Through a business organization linked through my business club.

Goodluck with the internships! I am looking for something now too.

lol i dare say the business club in my CC is the weakest in existent in the whole california
i think laguna can confirm that ^ - ^

True, kinda hard to get into management consulting, buy-side sell-side stuff, etc with an avg gpa and @ CC

You guys should work on getting on the executive board at your schools Business club and make changes. Make the club be the most active on campus, thats a story to write about!

so anyone get into haas?

There’s a few guys here who got in… Hongda, Guardiangel, and others.

hi, Russkiy_Bear.
i thought u r perparing for the last meeting of Business Club right now…
I’m also gonna apply this fall. but since this is my first semester at DVC, which means i gonna transfer in 1.5 yr. Is it gonna be hurt, for I don’t have mant EC,interships, etc. But my major is Econ. Is Econ also need a lot of EC or just GPA?
Btw, dp u know where is our president transfering to?

rusky got in too… dvor or w/e got in too (sry i m not good with names)

gogogobears-

You are in the DVC Business Club? You should introduce yourself to me today at the meeting! If you are studying econ and don’t have significant EC’s I suggest you apply to Berkeley and UCLA economics. Both programs are highly competitive, but not as a competitive as Haas. Our President (Min) is going to Berkeley Economics. I will be taking over VP for next year!

Guardian, I did not get into Haas. I will be applying this coming Fall 2008.

Hey Russkiy, what exactly do you guys do in the business club and how often do you meet up for meetings/events? Do most CCs have a business club? Are you in any other clubs?

jfk-

The Business Club is primarily a networking resource. In addition, we host events that raise money for the club, participate in volunteering events and develop a strong network with other business students at our CC.

Not every CC will have a business club, if your CC does not, I HIGHLY suggest you start a business club. Something like that will look solid on your resume/application. I am in the process of starting my own club for next semester, still in the rough draft.

I am in other clubs as well, but none have been as rewarding as the Business Club.

Is it difficult at all to start up a business club? I honestly wouldn’t even know what to do after it’s formed. I’m not sure if my CC has a business club or not but a quick google search showed nothing.

Do you think joining one (and possibly two) clubs and staying there for the long-term so you can build a foundation there and show some continuity is a good idea rather than a lot? What’s the best way to get a business related internship during the summer especially for someone who has not even started CC yet? (likely starting this Fall)
