Want Outsider Opinion, Auburn vs. U. of Illinois

I’m going into Industrial Engineering

That said…let me tell you about my real concern for you. Industrial Engineering may not be the best choice for future employment. My friend’s son graduate from Columbia with a degree in IE in 2009…very smart kid…yet, he still hasn’t found a job. The live on the West Coast. He now wishes he had majored in another area of engineering.

so, you might want to keep your options open for the area of engineering …

IF all things were equal (like price) I would pick UIUC. With the scholarship I would go with Auburn. I know many people who lived in that area from the north (don’t know too many Auburn grads). Major companies will not see much difference between the two schools. I can’t talk to IE vs other engineering majors. With all the electronics we have now EE is a great choice but it may not fit you.

Thanks everyone, I am a Lutheran m2ck. I didn’t notice any Lutheran churches near Auburn, but I think I could manage with another sect. I know that it’s pretty easy to switch majors within the college of engineering at any school, so I can change if I get more interested in another area.

Thanks for all the help. I’ve chosed Auburn btw. That is, as long as I can get into on-campus housing. There’s a waitlist now with about 275 males on it, but they are optimistic about getting to the waitlist and used conservative estimates to come up with the waitlist. I’m hoping I can get the housing but if not, I’m going to lose my non-refundable confirmation and housing deposits and go to U of I instead.
