Want to Change Course to Pass/Fail

Hi all,
Is it bad to do this since I applied for transfer? If I get accepted, will colleges be mad and ask fro an explanation or rescind? I am wondering what people think. I can give more background if necessary (class is outside of major, but closely linked: sociology course and I am a psych major).

Bumping this cause I need answers, sorry!

Do colleges get mad if you do this? Has anyone who has transferred done it?

Is it a major prerequisite? If so, then it is usually advised not to change it to P/NP grading. Doing pass/no pass is only really acceptable for general education courses. For any major prep class, you should be getting a letter grade (preferably an A or B).

I am going to be transferring next Fall 2017. It’s my last semester at my JC. I did P/NP last semester for a Geography class (I am a communications major) that fulfilled my science general education requirement. It should be fine. Colleges won’t get mad. At least not UCs/CalStates.

Edited for wording

@ccstudent1517 it’s an upper-level Sociology class. Was gonna minor but I’m starting to haye the discipline.

@SeinfeldFan1 I am not sure about minors and the situation with those. I would either talk to a counselor at your school or call the schools you plan on applying to about it. I would imagine for minors they would want you to have letter grades for those courses as well.

I mean, I put it down as a possible major, but I am much closer to finishing the requirements for psychology.

If you have put it down as a possible major, then I would advise you not to change it to P/NP. If you put it down as a possible major and the class is a prerequisite for it, then you would need to have a letter grade.
