Hi everyone!

Now I am facing a hard problem about my courses in senior year. First of all I took Calculus AB and got a 4 on the AP test junior year.
This year I chose to take AP Statistics which is the only math course left in my high school. But now after six weeks in the stats class I felt that it's hard for me to learn in that class from that teacher (or maybe is my problem) and I already got 2 Cs on my previous tests. Now I have a choice of drop off stats and there will be no record on my transcript by 10/7, but I don't know if it is the right choice to do since I am applying to NYU Stern business school with early decision. If I drop off there will be no math class for my senior year. Really need some advises!

THANKS!
btw my senior year courses are:

government
economy
English 12
Physics
Psychology
history in film
AP stats

I took AP Stats last year and passed with a 3! My teacher was really good so I guess that’s why I passed. But if your teacher isn’t teaching you well, I suggest that you just learn from the 5 steps to 5 AP Stats and maybe a student that knows what he/she is doing. You’ll do fine and AP Stats exam wasn’t hard at all. It’ll be worth it and I learned alot from it. If you drop it I suggest at least take another AP class?

Why do you say the AP stats exam wasn’t hard if you got a 3 on it?

As for the OP: Stern is selective and the lack of any AP classes senior year will hurt you (also, AP math classes are good for Stern) unless your school doesn’t offer many. However, it is better to avoid a low grade in the class. If you think you will get a B and have a chance for an A, stay in AP stats. If you will get a C, though, my advice is to drop it.

thanks for answering! I have another concern which is that I am applying to Stern’s ED1, which they arent able to see my first semester grade before they accept or defer me…so should i still keep the class even I get a C? (in commonapp they can still see what class i have in my senior year) or even they accept me but when they get my mid-year report can they change their mind and defer me?

You should probably drop English too
