<p>Hey guys
I am a Canadian junior student currently enrolled in the IB program. I want to go into pre-med to a good univ. in the US, preferably in the top 20 ranks. I am not sure about my major yet but i still want to get a rough idea about my chances. I need little to no financial aid for my undergrad.</p>

<p>Background: I came to Canada from South Asia when i was 13 years old ( I am 16 now) and knew very little english. As you can tell, i have improved in that department. Hopefully stressing this will help me in some schools</p>

<p>To give you guys an idea of what type of student i am, i had a 90% percent avg. throughout my pre-IB years. Got bunch of awards within school ...nothing special though. Next year, i am taking IB biology, IB Chemistry, Higher level/ IB Math, IB French and more. As far as my
recommendations go, i am certain i can get really good ones and i am also very confident about my essay.</p>

<p>SAT 1:
Math: 740
Writing: 720
Critical Writing: 650
Total: 2110 (will study and aim for 2250)</p>

<p>Extra-Curriculars: ( I am not gonna lie. my ECs need some work)
-Empowered Student Partnership(9,10)
-Asian Club(9,10)
-Class Rep(10)
-Junior Soccer Team(9,10.. city runner ups)
-Peer Tutor(9,10)
-Tech Crew(9,10)
-Dedicated Cricket, ping pong and Squash Player for about 5 years</p>

<p>Volunteer: (so far, around 150 hours... aiming for 400)
-Hospital Volunteer
-Local Community Center Volunteer
-Weekend Volunteer Tutor for 2 kids</p>

<p>Johns Hopkins--Reach, unless you spell it John Hopkins, then impossible
Cornell--Reach
U of Mich--High Match
UW-Madison Low Match
Vanderbilt--High Match
UNC--Reach
McGill--Depends on grades and different SATs but match to high match
Northwestern--High Match/Low reach (not quite as familiar though)</p>

<p>Go for schools like Concordia that are good, but that you also know that you can get into to make sure you aren't shut out. (A safety school basically)</p>

<p>I took one look at your thread title, then your name,which sounds Arabic, and skipped right on by. I was reminded, each time, of an Arab dreaming of the 40+ virgins he would get in heaven for an act of terrorism.</p>

<p>You really ought to think about renaming your thread. Judging by the few who have stopped to peruse, I suspect they are all thinking the same as me.</p>

<p>I'll say you've improved. You've got style and wit as well. I hope you make that come out in your applications. Ignore the naysayers. How about a couple of safeties? Just for a lark, SUNY Stonybrook has an excellent program and location. They'd probably love to have you.</p>
