Want to go to Stanford

Hey everyone.
Stanford has been my dream school since I was about 12 years old. My dad went there for law school and has taken me to visit every year since I was young.
At the beginning of this year, I applied for Restrictive Early Action and I went to Stanford to audition for their theater program for my supplement. I was deferred, and naturally, disheartened. But after a few days, I realized that I had to work my butt off to get into the school of my dreams. I got nearly perfect grades for first semester of senior year, I won a few acting competions, I'm the lead in my school play, and I made Cum Laude. Also, the headmaster of my school/my college counselor have been making calls to the Stanford admissions office. In addition, my dad is going to call the dean of the law school to possibly make a call to the undergraduate admissions office.
The only problem is....my SAT scores. I ended up with an 1840, which is pretty weak.
However, I have amazing grades (4.5 weighted GPA) and many extra curriculars that demonstrate my passion for theater, the literary magazine (writing), and student government.
Does anybody think I have a shot?
I am so nervous, Stanford means the world to me.
Or should I just give up on this dream due to my average SAT score??
HELPPPP

No offense, but there’s nothing too impressive about anything you’ve listed here (unless these “acting competitions” are state- or national-level awards) and your SAT score hangs on the rest of the application like a millstone.

Stanford gets thousands of applications every year from people who want to go there just as badly as you do, participate in the same activities, get straight As and 2300+ SAT scores, and even most of those people face waitlists or rejection.

take this over to the chance forum, OP, but I think you know the answer already.

Well, I was deferred, so I think there is something impressive about me.
5% of applicants were deferred this year, just saying.

I’m not sure that schools like Stanford care that much about scores for those in the artistic or performing arts. Who cares if the next great actor, singer, sculptor scores in the 99th percentile?

I think you do have a shot, otherwise you would have been rejected. Did you send a mid-year report? Are you supposed to provide any updates to the theater dept about your current activities?

Yeah, for deferred applicants they offer the “Optional update Form.”
I’ve received Cum Laude (top 10% of my class), Sally Bowles in Cabaret, and I one of the finalists for the ESU (english speaking Union) Shakespeare competition for the L.A area.
I’ve also sent in one of my research papers (comparing David Lynch and David Foster Wallace) to a literary journal.
I sent all that to Stanford.
