Your SAT score appears on the low side for UCLA. Consider retaking it and strive for a 1400+ to 1500 score. Read some of the response postings by @Gumbymom in this forum if you want to get an idea of your chances. Keep in mind that with around 100,000 applicants and very limited spots, UCLA turns away many well qualified applicants.
UCLA should be considered a Reach but a competitive GPA and test scores will make you a qualified applicant along with good HS course rigor, EC’s and outstanding essays. You want to be at or above the averages for the best chances.

@Gumbymom My SAT essay is on the low side, but I have received A’s in all my English classes and a 4 on the AP language and composition exam. How much do schools like UCLA care about the SAT essay?
Did you prepare for the SAT? I would definitely try to take it again.
@Emsmom1 I studied a little bit, but I definitely could study more. I plan to take it again in October and I’m shooting for 1430.
Your unweighted GPA is a plus. Do your very best on the application essays, they are very important. Your grades, good essays, and a little higher SAT should give you a decent chance.
everything’s good your SAT is just really low, who knows though, but who knows, I don’t know how the test score averages are so low for UCLA, i probably should have went to a better school sighs
For your info, the SAT math should be an easy 800, no excuse, and 700 is like a ton of leeway for reading/writing… it’s depressing to see the averages so low.
A “4” on the AP is also a red-flag, that means you basically get a “B”, that you might be a “B” level writer. I recommend asking your parents to pay for some SAT-writing classes, they may teach you how to be better at english.
