Want to know about Auburn?

I can help! I am just about to finish my first semester here, so if any of y’all have questions about it, just ask. I’d be happy to answer any questions I can!

Hey I'll be graduating high school in "07" and I was wonder the HS GPA requirments to be accepted into AU. Also I wanted to know other requirments to see what else I need to accomplish before graduating. I'm 100% Sure that I'm going to AU in the Fall of 2007. Anyways just wanted to know the full requirments to be accepted.

Thanks!

It's great that you are so sure you want to go to Auburn!

The average ACT score for Fall 2004 was 24.3 (National average: 20.9) and the average SAT for Fall 2004 was 1170 (National average: 1013). The average high school GPA is 3.53.
While the decision is based upon test scores and high school GPA, students must have completed course requirement in their high school curriculum. These include:

* English - 4 years
* Mathematics - 3 years
(This must include 1 year of Algebra I, 1 year of Algebra II, and one year of Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, or Analysis)
* Science - 2 years
(This must include 1 year of Biology and 1 year of a Physical Science)
* Social Studies - 3 years

Haha...website Admissions right? lol well ok

But do you think a 3.1 GPA with a 24 ACT score will get me in? I mean I got other stuff like community service and extracurricular activities (stuff like that).

Lol, yes, I couldn't remember what the GPA was so I looked it up and thought, "well, he asked for admissions criteria!"

The 3.5 is really only an average meaning that there are LOADS of people who have lower than that and got in. I'm sure a 3.1 would be fine. Same for 24 ACT, it's the average. I think the lowest ACT they take is 20-21 and lowest GPA something like 2.8. They ask about community service and ECs on the app, so you can mention it but it's not the biggest thing they consider. You also have to do a couple short essays like "what do you feel you contribute to Auburn's freshman class" etc.

I don't know if you need to know anything about scholarships, but you have to have at least a 27 ACT to qualify for one. My friend Jessica, who was valedictorian of our class, had a 28 and only got $1250 from freshman scholarships (she got a val scholarship too I think). It also depends on when you apply, the earlier the better is the safest bet. December 1st is the cut-off date.

Also do you think an Out-of-Stater like me (Tennessee)..would be harder to get in?

I don't think so. Almost 35% of students from Auburn are out-of-staters from Tennessee,Georgia, and Florida, mostly). I don't think they really look at it very much. I know ALOT of people from out-of-state.

Well I appreciate all that info..I think that's all I pretty much needed. But I jsut visited AU this fall, I went to the AU vs. Ole Miss Game with my g/f, she only lives an hour from there. Her mom amd my g/f showed me and my mom all the frat houses and told me what all the buildings were. But she's mostly 1 of he top main resons I'm attending AU. Anyways I like the campus and enviroment. Even though I have attended a lot other campus's like Ole Miss, Knoxville, MTSU, but I Really like AU's the most. Also I've read and heard about their engineering department and that helps me out because I'm majoring in Computer-Science and Computer Engineering while I'm there for about 5 years.

Another question is....what about living places there and money is not a problem, but I would like a condo or big apartment. Any nice ones or one under construstion? Like really nice neighborhoods?

That's neat, I only live about 35 minutes from Auburn myself. Where does your girlfriend live?

Personally, I live in the dorms, and while it's not ideal, I still like it most of the time. There are LOTS of apartments in Auburn, I don't know of any specific ones, but there are so many places to live around here it's ridiculous. Trailers, condos, duplexes, apartments, dorms... Some are really close to campus so you could walk and others are 5-10 minutes driving distance. I would recommend looking at www.auburnapartmentguide.com if you want to find something.

Also, speaking of driving, the parking situation is insane. There aren't enough spots half the time for everyone in C-zone (student parking). There's a big dirt lot used for campers during football season that they're using as a parking lot now. It's definitely useful to have a car, but if you live off-campus I would just as soon recommend that you park your car by your apartment and ride the tiger transit (AU's bus system) to class. It'd save so much hassle of having to get here an hour early to search for a spot.

MY G/F lives in Woodland. But anywayz...yea I'm sure by the time I get there there will have been quite a few built and ready to be able to move into. (1 1/2 yr). Dang I CANT wait to graduate from HS. I'm just rdy to get out of this place if you know what I mean..lol

Do you know anything about the undergraduate program in architecture, aka Rural Studio?or any students that are going there. It is a program my daughter is pretty interested in. thanks!

Hey! No, I'm sorry, I don't really know anything about the architecture program (except that their building is across the road from my dorm and they have neat statues in the walkway). You should probably look at the web page http://www.arch.auburn.edu/ , I'm sure it'll tell you what you'd like to know. Also, I bet if you contacted someone within the college, they'd be able to help you with any questions you had about the architecture program if you can't find it on the website.
