Want to know your chances? Post here!

Welcome to the official "chances" thread. Post your stats here and let the UCLA experts tell you how your chances for admission are!

Oh, and no refunds, exchanges, or amortization of goodwill allowed.

I should define my terms...

Imagine a bell curve. The x is the mean admit (the average person who gets in.) Less than one standard deviation to the left and right is "match. That means that you are basically the average admit. More than one standard deviation to the left, and you are a "slight reach." That means that you are just slightly below trend. One to the right, and you are a "safe match." That means you are slightly above trend.

That's all it means. I don't give percentages because I believe that they are disingenuous when you take into account all the factors that go into admission.

SAT: (670M, 590CR, 550W) 1810
SATII: 640 MII, 590 USH, 590 Chem
GPA: 4.23 (weighted)

Now, those don't look good at all compared to everyone here, but I was wondering what my chances are considering they aren't putting as much emphasis on the test scores.

I've been on Women's Varsity Golf for 4 years and I have lettered all four years. I got the Golfer of the Year award for helping my team win league. I also recieved the Scholar Athlete award for two years for having above a 3.75.

I have been on my schools Academic team for two years, and we were San Diego County Champions. In addition, I played women's basketball and volleyball my freshmen year.

Another point of interest is that I have been an intern at Edward Jones Investments for the past year, and have gained some really good real world experiences there, and it's geared towards what I'm studying/majoring to be.

My essays were very well written, and pretty creative. For the academic preparation I wrote about my internship in a storylike way about daydreaming that I was my boss at work, explaining how it's taught me to aim high and go for my goals. For the contribution one I told a story of how I helped some of the poorest students in my class get an excellent grade on our group project and insipired them to become more. And finally, the open ended one was about golf and how it's helped me in a multitude of areas.

After being on these boards for awhile I've felt less and less confident about being accepted, because my SAT scores are not anywhere close to other peoples. Just tell me honestly if you think I would be accepted. Thank you very much for your time!

Match

i guess this is more or less chances. ppl were still getting this optional supplement thing. we all assumed they were the "borderline" ppl in the "borderline" group. If some students i.e. me have better stats then those in the borderline group, but didnt get an optional supplement thing should we feel good about our chances at LA?

Flong,

Don't make any conclusions either way with the supplemental material mailings. We'll have to wait until there's a definite trend established to say anything. A few anecdotal data doesn't make for much of a model.
