Argh, my impressions of JC education aren't that pleasing. My Calc teacher couldn't speak English very well (or much at all for that matter o_O). It was rather difficult understanding what yingteyglow and nawm were, but it was funny how much he sounded like my parents (my teacher was Asian too). At any rate, that class was pretty self-taught. Boelter, does that kind of stuff happen in college too? :(

UCLAri- u told me im "match." so im 50/50 ur sayin rite?

It's more than 50/50. A 3.67 in a JC when the requirement was like a 3.2 is a pretty good accomplishment.

First semester CCC: 3.83 gpa @ 18 credits

IGETC and Major requirements finished after spring :)
TONS of quality leadership/community positions in HS
If they read the essay, I wrote an amazing one.
Thoughts?

transfer admissions depend largely on the major. a 3.83 is pretty decent for all of them (would probably even squeak by for comm and that's the most competitive transfer major outside of film), but 18 units is way too early to tell.

I will have 67 units when if I enter UCLA this fall. 26 from out of state 4 year, 18 first semester at ccc, and 23 this semester. That was my question...

my reading comprehension has taken a beating from finals.

and hm. its hard to say because the averaged gpa would be significantly lower. depends on the major and the applicant pool i guess. oos factors are always more difficult to predict. whats the major?

GPA: 3.68 UW, 4.05 W
SAT: 2300 (CR 730, M 770, W 800)
ACT: 34 (English 35, Reading 35, Math 35, Science 32, Combined E/W 31, lol horrible essay score)

SAT II: Chem and Math 2, 790 for both

AP Calc B/C: 5
AP Physics B: 5
AP Chem: 5
AP Language: 4
APUSH: 3

Weak extracurriculars, only about 75 hours of community service, JV tennis 3 years, Orchestra 2 years.

Good personal statements.

Took challenging courses senior year (AP Physics C and AP Stats).

What do you think? THANKS.

History major, but I'll be in-state cuz I'm going to a ccc :)

i realize that, but you still have oos units that would need to qualify for transfer.

depending on the final averaged gpa it should be fine. history isn't a terribly competitive major to get into.

Ok so I have two questions on my chances on acceptance to the mother of all schools (UCLA). 1) Is it true that acceptance to one school, such as UCSD, can hurt your chance of getting into UCLA? And 2) is it true that if you haven't been notified by the UCLA engineering department you are probably not getting in, or is that just for the really smart future engineers?

1- no.

2- can't comment, don't know anything about how engineering runs things.

2) yes, that is true. most of the accepted engineering students should have been notified early in the mail, to make sure that the engineering open house will have as many people as possible. but there are still a number of people who will be accepted, and who didn't get the letter.

UCLAri, I would be grateful if you could tell me my chances....

UW GPA-3.8
