Volunteer/Work Experience: UCSF summer volunteer, NASA Ames summer research intern, CAVEC (Chinese-American Voters Education society) summer intern, Fiona Ma for Assembly volunteer, various minor volunteer at city fairs/festivals
Major: Biology
Yea, this seems a little Asian-American orientated, and i was also wondering if a commitment to a certain political party or candidate: (i.e Fiona Ma) affects how a person looks at my application. Would it affect it negatively is what i mean. And how much does the UCSF volunteer/NASA intern help me because i chose a biology major, would the admissions people be impressed with this sort of thing? Oh, and would the 680 in Chemistry also hurt me then..
Anyway, please help assess my chances, thanks!</p>
<p>This isn't really a stat... I got the Engineering Letter, but I was rejected by UCSD. Does that mean anything? Are my chances lower now?</p>
<p>^Getting rejected (or accepted) from another UC has absolutely no bearing upon your decision for UCLA. The UCs don't communicate with eachother, insofar as "oh, [x] got into [xyz] so we won't let them in here."</p>

Unusual Circumstances
My area is awfully underrepresented at UCLA and rural.(San Bern. County). My lack of transportation prevented me from doing any EC's this year. Also i moved once during my 10th grade which kinda threw me off. Parents are not college educated and poor.

First of all your SAT is too low and EC's are not that great.
Don't expect to get attention for your immigrant status. UCLA has a ton of int'l students already!</p>

<p>that's 40% right?</p>
<p>Check out my first post in the thread for how I define the terms.</p>
<p>ok, thanks</p>
<p>you don't give percentages but between 1 and 2 sd's away from the mean on the lower side would be a 13.5% chance</p>
<p>sorry, i'm taking stats this year, lol</p>
<p>cr_book,</p>
<p>Not necessarily. Remember that people with the mean scores get admitted at MUCH higher rates than others. I'd say it's much higher than that.</p>
