Want to know your chances?

Hey mario, good luck on your paper!
and also, does Georgetown consider our SATs taken in senior year, aka October ones?

Good luck on your paper, Mario! Thanks for your help!

Do you know whether EA decisions have already been made? If so, do you figure they would sent them out the friday (12th) before the 15th (monday)?

Everything ok? Haven’t you in a while.

*seen or heard from

OK guys starting from the bottom up again. Thanks for the nice wishes on the paper. Finals period starts today so I am just stuffed with work. Also there was thanksgiving so I was away then as well. I will be checking this thread every day from now until decisions come out. And of course I will still check in after that every few days if there is interest.

Thanks, the paper was ok fortunately. Yes, they have already been made with some exceptions, and some people will be getting the decisions prior to the 15th. Much depends on your location.

Thanks – Georgetown will only consider them if they arrive before the decision is made, so there is no guarantee but generally yes. If not, then they will be considered in regular action.

Hi, you are in the 670 / 150 admitted range, good luck!

91 apply; 25 in , good luck!

No problem! 125 apply; 61 are in based on your criteria. The soft factors will help you a good bit. Theater especially.

No problem!
COL: 50% chance
NHS: 14 apply; 8 in
SFS: ~50% chance again
MSB: 70 apply; 41 in

You can do pre-med in SFS. Not common but definitely happens. Honestly, I would recommend SFS because I think it is a stronger school than NHS in general, but that is a debatable point. You can always transfer from one school to another after your first year. Good luck!

445 apply; 102 in

Sure thing. 458 apply; 189 in, and I have to say, the extracirriculars make your odds substantially better.

Yes, with a handful of exceptions.

382 apply; 75 accepted, no problem!

Can you give ACT breakdown?

The summer thing is not particularly important by itself. However if you do make use of it in the essay, then it can become a swing factor for admissions if it shows your dedication to MSB. 620 apply; 110 accepted based on the stats!

Thanks a lot. Great news with the interviewer! 700 apply; 266 accepted! Good luck.

Hi,no problem, but I’m a little confused. I only have Georgetown admissions stats, not other schools.

150 apply; 81 in, most of them also white north easterners.

What school are you applying to eg COL SFS MSB?

Hi, I only have GTOWN stats, sorry.

60 apply; 36 accepted, congratulations on improvement

680 apply; 151 accepted. If you improve the math score it would help big time.

No problem. 27 apply; 8 accepted. first generation is a big deal!

They can make a difference though usually these are soft factors that I cannot account for, e.g. they just help make borderline decisions. Where are you applying again?

Hi,do you have a rank in class aside from the GPA?

379 apply; 80 accepted. no problem! do not sweat the SAT 2. It happens. In fact it happened to me, I got a low 600.

Pending the SAT IIs, you are also in the ~380 apply; 81 accepted range.

Based on the COL stats: 1091 apply; 132 in. Your average would help if it is high, because this range is based on people who report no grade rank info or numbers.

455 apply; 102 in

/faints

Good Luck with finals!

thank you so much! I’m sure im speaking on behalf of all of us in saying that you have made this process less stressful and smoother!

But, I must say, as much as I want to get it early, it makes me extremely nervous to think that I might get the letter before the 15th… I live in MD (eastern shore)… so it usually doesn’t take more than a day or two to get mail from the DC area.

Do you know whether they are going to start sending letters out on friday, or even before that?

ahhh thanks so much for doing this!

Mario, you said that 266/700 accepted for my stats. Is that early action only for Government majors? If so, that is high among majors, isn’t it?

I’m a junior.

GPA: 4.2 on a 5.8 weighted scale. (I want to apply to UCs that would not count my freshmen classes which would make it a 4.7) My grades also improve significantly with each semester.

My only award so far has been a “Diploma as Merito” for Spanish.

Thank you for all your help, especially with the start of finals. I think we all can agree that we owe you a lot for taking some of the stress out of this situation!

I can’t thank you enough for all your insight and information. The stats that you gave me 91 applied/25 accepted - was that EA only or everyone in that range. Does the fact that my sister went there and is now an interviewer for Gtown in her area - another state than where we live help me at all?

Also, I see that you said the EA decisions are done and ready to go - do you have any idea when they will be mailed out?

Thanks again and best of luck with your finals.

are you on the admissions committtee? do you know when exactly they send out decisions? how do you know the stats so well… I didn’t want to read a 7 page thread.

is there anything else you can tell me about ea decisions and when they come out ect.?

Heh it’s a friday night and I’m in the library. You guys sure you want to go here? lol

Thanks! Are you pre-med or liberal arts in the college?

Sure no problem. It looks like 175 apply and 20 are accepted. I was actually Top 15% as well with similar scores (the equivalent of your SATs). Typically students in this range are deferred and need to demonstrate interest in the second cycle to be admitted. If you are deferred, be sure to do this if you still want to go.

Sure no problem. I actually would have to check the date since I don’t know when they’re mailed. But I am certain Dec. 15 as it has been in the past is a ‘receive by’ estimate rather than a ‘mail by’ estimate. Can’t be positive until Monday when I go to the office and talk to people in charge of this. Remind me and I will be sure to do this.

86 apply; 15 are accepted. You are kinda lucky you’re Top 4.8% and not below that – otherwise you’d shift into the 41 apply; 3 admitted group! Definitely look at retaking SAT if possible, a 600+ math would help big time. And stress the awards.

It’s everything including EA. And yes it is exceedingly high, almost a 40% chance when the average is 18%.

What school SFS COL etc are you applying to?

No problem.

Thanks a lot. The stats are for everyone who applied. Your sister going there does help and is considered legacy status [for some reason I’m not clear on]. EA decisions are not 100% ready but most are, though I’ll get the date for you on Monday.

No I am a student who works in the admissions office. The stats are published and are not top-secret or anything, it is not as if I am leaking information. EA decisions are pretty selective, not to rain on your parade, but most people who are doubtful are delayed until the next cycle. Don’t let it get you down though.
