I'm taking Calc AB this year, and supposedly the teacher I will have sucks, which will make studying BC a lot harder I'm guessing. Any advice?

I suggest you learn the Calc AB topics on your own. It’s a very easy class in general, so learning those topics by yourself shouldn’t be much a problem. The hardest addition to Calc BC from AB is probably infinite series, so just study that section a lot.

As a current BC student, former AB student…

I would evaluate yourself and see if you can learn this material well. If you cannot master Calculus AB material (get the fundamentals/basics down), BC is definitely going to be hell for you.

If you think you’re struggling with Calculus already, I would stick with AB and work from there. AP Calculus BC expects you to already know the AB material from top to bottom, but apply it to more concepts (polar graphing, trig substitution, integration by parts, and much more), as well as learning new concepts exclusive to BC Calculus (Taylor Series, Maclaurin Series, etc).

Mastering AP Calculus BC in one year is doable, but requires a LOT of work. And that’s not a joke. Please keep that in mind.

Best of luck in whatever you wish to do. =)
