Want to transfer to Stony Brook, questions?

Hello everybody. I am a current student (freshment) at SUNY Albany who is looking to transfer closer home to Stony Brook. I was accepted Senior year of high school, and my current GPA (although not perfect since I fell into some bad habits early on in the semester) should be above a 3.0 (knock on wood). I was filling out the common app since it really let me highlight my numerous activities (previous and current) however it appears that SB only accepts the SUNY app, which after filling out I've come to realize is not nearly as helpful in showing my good qualities as the common app was. I am a white male (half puerto rican) who is interested in athletics and has a lot of community service and other activities on my record.

My SAT scores were also:
680: Writing
580: Math
680: Reading

at their highest point, although my other score was a 1720.

I guess my real question is what are my chances of transfering? Will the SUNY app be enough? Am I applying at a good time for transfers? And just general guidance related to this type of thing.

The SUNY application will be enough. There will be more emphasis placed on your current performance at Albany, as that is more representative of your ability to succeed in the collegiate atmosphere.

I was able to contact admissions and they said that the common app was fine, however I am curious if the fact that I don’t have any college grades (since it’s only now finals week) will negatively affect me?

Try and submit those grades as soon as you get them. I would call and ask about that though.
