I’m currently a sophomore at a 4-year private university and I’m looking to transfer to UCI. My GPA for my freshman year is a flat 3.0. I’m currently majoring in Electrical/Computer engineering at my current college.

I have an abundance of questions that I hope I can get answered here before contacting the admissions department.

Are my chances likely of being accepted @ UCI for Fall 2009?

I had a horrible 2nd semester with 2 C+'s, thus my low GPA. I intend on raising my GPA to at least a 3.5 by the time I’m done with my sophomore year. Is the GPA I put on my transfer application the one that the University considers or is it my cumulative GPA when Summer 2009 rolls around?

I am fairly active within my current college community, so I do have a lot of extra curricular activities as well as an abundance of community service. However, I have only one award/recognition.

What is the most important factor when they consider a transfer applicant from a 4-year university? I know that community college students have priority over students with my educational background, but what could help even the playing field?

I’ve been told that the application is rolling. Should I submit my application as soon as possible or wait until the month of November to submit?
