So I'm involved in this academic enrichment program that allows you to take community college courses while still in high school. I haven't had much of a problem before handling college classes, but this personal finance class is killing me. I don't have the right edition for the textbook (I idiotically though that it wouldn't matter which edition so of course I took the cheaper one, and none of the problem sets are the same). Plus high school is getting harder and I'm seriously stressed and doubt I can handle this course. Only problem is, its passed the deadline to drop the class without a 'W' grade. How serious is this? I've taken 3 college classes before and recived A's. Will this completley ruin my transcript and make me look like a quiter?

It will not ruin your transcript, unless you have multiple ones. One ‘w’ is not a big deal at all, especially considering you’re still in H.S. so don’t stress too much.

so its not that big of a deal? I hope so because the last few weeks I’ve hated having to study/do work for this class and another 2 months of this seems pretty joyless.
The reason I was worried was because I told my mom and she acted like it was a huge deal and everything, similar to getting an ‘F’ in the class or something I dunno.
it won’t make me seem incapable/undedicated etc?

No it’s not at all. I was in the EXACT same position as you are in now a week ago, difference is I am actually in college. I am an honors student at a respectable university so I definitely weighed my options heavily. After talking to my counselor, I realized getting a “W” is by far the best option. He said to me that one “W” isn’t looked at as much, it’s more similar to getting a “B”, but if you accumulate more, they look like “F’s” because it looks like you just gave up in a bunch of classes. It willnot make you seem incapable at all.

Really, I assure you, it won’t be a big deal because you seem like me, someone who worried about even getting one and will probably NEVER get one again.

Good luck :)

ok thanks a lot for the advice
I’m going to withdraw from the class tommorow. Now that I’ve decided I feel sooo relieved. But this whole experience kinda sucked so at least now I know that I really need to like the classes I’m taking so I won’t have to ever withdraw again.

FYI, you’re note going to get through college without taking at least one class you hate. The best thing you can do is not take more than one a term, and surround it with classes you do enjoy.
