wanted to apply to marshall but...

i was unsure when i first started filling out my application so i chose undecided, then after i was done filling it out i decided i wanted to apply to marshall but for some reason the application wouldn't let me switch majors...

so out of frustration i just ended up applying undecided.

so what is the procedure for schools within the university. if i end up getting accepted, can i transfer into marshall? is there someone i should call now to tell them i would like my application to be considered for marshall?

any info is greatly appreciated.

Call and ask, there still may be time to transfer to Marshall

In the past, you could also transfer at Orientation. Not sure if that is still the case.

If you aren't able to transfer then, you can transfer to Marshall if you fullfill the pre-reqs (Micro and Macro, I think) and get B's or better in them. It isn't very hard.

thanks so much!

another question - is the undergrad app for marshall different than the one for the college of letters arts and sciences?

ironically, i just got a thing in the mail from USC today stating my info and if there are any errors correct it and mail the paper back. it says like my name, address, school, bday, etc... it also has 1st and 2nd choice major...

should i correct 1st choice major as business adminstration and second choice as undecided in the letter and send it back? or will that pis$ off admissions because i actually did put open as 1st choice on my actual application?

No, it's the same app. There might be an extra question about why you want to major in business? I don't really remember, I filled it out last year.

As far as correcting mistakes...ummm....I dunno your call.

I say just wait it out, and see if you get in, then worry about transferring. Marshall is harder to get in anyway.

If you know you want to do marshall, then you should probably contact them now and see if you can get it added on- would probably make things handled smoother. If you don't, I guess you can get it added at orientation or later. I don't know what the rules are for undeclared majors to change into marshall after being admitted.

If he isn't admitted to Marshall, he is automatically considering for undecided. Hence, it doesn't hurt to try.

i have a similar situation to dalva26's. but i agree that you should try applying to Marshall, if it's not too late to switch. as sfgiants said, you are automatically considered for CLAS if you don't get into the school you applied for.

i also applied undecided but wish i had applied to Annenberg instead. my question is, should i even bother trying to switch my major now? first of all, it might already be too late, and secondly, none of my essays or short answers were really geared toward journalism (i did mention that i might possibly go after journalism, though). thank you very much to anyone who takes the time to answer.

one more thing...does anyone have the admittance stats for each of the schools (Marshall, Annenberg, etc.)? thanks

As to your first question - you can try to switch. If they don't let you, no biggie and you don't lose anything.
