Wanting to do what's best

I was dismissed from Texas A&M University. I spent my freshman year in limbo missing home miserably & feeling unhappy with my major, but found a passion in nursing. After completing 24 hours of nursing prereqs this past semester at community college with a 4.0 & gaining experience working as an EMT for 6 months, I have reapplied for the school & was accepted.
Here’s the deal, though. I’m unsure if I want to continue school at TAMU due to the fact that the nursing program there is cut throat to get into. I feel my chances are better elsewhere. BUT, my TAMU transcript is crap due to the low gpa I had & the hours I took. Would I need to continue there for another semester to add onto that transcript, then transfer? Or will my freshman 1.0 still be there regardless? I mean is that how it’d work? I just need to know if staying at TAMU for a bit to clean things up before transferring elsewhere (to make the situation look better) would be necessary.

You will have that transcript follow you no matter what school you go to. What you need to do is to demonstrate, at TAMU or wherever else you go, that you have moved beyond it. Your community college grades are a good start.
