Wanting to switch into a science but...

So, right now I'm entering as a freshman as a psych major, but I think I want to switch. For sure I want to switch into a science, but I don't know if I want to go physical or life. I don't know how to figure out which I want to pursue if both sciences require different class routes, and I heard that each type of science requires (or is advised) you to take certain classes as early as possible. Any tips on how I can choose? It just seems to me that if I really do want a science, I only get one chance to change my major...

Well since you are entering as a freshman, I think it would be hard for you to get the classes you need for a science major for the first quarter, but I have many friends that even start in sophomore year to start on their science major (so don’t worry you are not far behind).

In regards to, “I don’t know if I want to go to physical or life”, I would suggest to take the physical sciences first. Even though the courses are harder, it is much easier to go from physical sciences to a life sciences major because the courses are much more difficult. I personally am a life science major going into a physical science and I have to take one or two more classes because the life science major is easier. And I feel like if I graduated with physiological science degree…what can I really do with it? Go to med school? I dont even know if I wanna go to it anymore, but that’s my problem, not yours.

But definitely start talking with a science counselor by looking them up online and sending them a email and telling them about your situation. They’ll either tell you to do “blah blah” or try to make an appointment with them!
